Massive changes are coming to Sanctuary, ones aimed at fixing the rather busted endgame it launched with. Blizzard are also reconsidering what otherwise would have killed Diablo 4's seasonal gameplay.

You identified the primary seasonal issue: Level 100 is an MMO level time investment per-character. Rolling a new or duplicate class for seasonal isnt a fun lark as in D3; it represents a MASSIVE time commitment.

The model also lowers value and attachment for eternal/non-seasonal characters.

They've made the sheer length of the leveling process so long that it veers into invidating the season model.

My D4 goal at launch was to complete the campaign and get the bonus skill points before shelving it until the first season.

My advice is don't follow optimisation guides on the fastest way to gear, level up or grind. Just play how you want at your own pace and ignore what the internet says you should be doing and you will have a much better time.

For me the map exploration just felt like I was playing an open world Ubisoft game trying to get map completion

Adding a gem tab is like a week of development work tops and they’re holding it off for months and months until season 2… wild

From a casual perspective, I'm having a hard time wanting to continue with the end game because they basically make you rush through all of the unique locations and fights during the campaign, don't let you go back to them, and then tell you to go grind side dungeons until the next expansion. The world feels extremely boring compared to 2 and 3 which had pandemonium and heaven integrated. What exactly am I gearing up for? I'm a superhuman janitor after Act VI. Already sick of dicking around random caves and cellars.

Not sure how many people know this, but if you stack Nightmare Sigils of the same dungeon, Like Maulwood for instance. If you complete it and teleport back to town, you can use another Maulwood Sigil and just reenter your portal to go back and it will reset the dungeon. I know it means you have to grind the same dungeon, but at least you dont have to run back and fourth to dungeons all the time.

They really shouldn’t have made this an MMO.

The lilith altars actually feel the most annoying to me in the late game.
Is it a cool idea that if you explore a lot you can discover these shrines that give you bonuses? Initially yeah but at the end of the day it's mandatory in the late game and it's not very enjoyable having to look up a separate map online and trying to pinpoint from that map where the altars are.

I think after you finish the story the altars should just show on the map.

This kind of highlights the divide between real players and streamers/youtubers. Content creators are complaining about end game, and running out of things to do.

Meanwhile I'm level 19.

I use seasons to level a new class. But if I have to grind renown again I'm out. Those side quests are a red line.

There are SO many great games out there for dirt cheap. Spending so much on one game just to have the newest is something that I learned to be very silly.

Diablo has always had dungeons that grind; Hordes of mobs to vanquish ect ect. These were considered fun, That fun is now gone and instead of fixing that, they're turning the game in to more of a mmorpg-like instead of the ARPG the game is intended to be.

My biggest complaints. I dont feel like im ever getting any stronger & there appear to be hidden difficulty spikes after finishing certain campaign missions.

Ive never played an ARPG with such an anemic feeling of power progression.

I’m a casual player who made the mistake of playing Nightmare dungeons because I simply thought they were more fun.

I didn’t realize I was supposed to grind the same regular dungeon over and over so I can hit max level & complain about how boring the end-game content is.

How silly of me.

I really do like these changes because having to use your horse through open world would often hitch or stutter. Hopefully nightmare dungeons will give enough for them to be viable

I think the screen might be a bit too zoomed in. Every toon I play end up fighting in melee because I can't even see any mobs at range. I'd love to see a zoom out feature.

I sincerely have no idea how some people have enough free time to lvl a character to 100. The best I could do is a lvl 50 rogue. My brother has a lvl 48 mage. We play when we can when we are not working or doing other stuff. Tbh it has been fun teaming up with him since we live in different cities and rarely get to chat. Was worth buying the game for that.

A lot of the casual andys don't understand that D4 is not like WoW or Lost Ark where you need to reach max level as fast as possible and then the game just starts. In D4 the leveling is the end game. A character that is lvl 60 will be doing the same thing on level 100. There is nothing new that changes the game, only the character gets a bit stronger. The journey to 100 is the end game. When reaching 100 its "game over" the character is done and not much point in playing it. In a season stuff changes, there are balance changes, new items and mechanics. That's why playing a new character and trying new builds that were previous not available is a lot of fun. And the people who have 6 hours a week time to play the game can continue to play their current characters on the eternal realm and finish the campaign and then probably quit and go to a different game.
