Writer-director Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird) has crafted a Little Women that draws on both the classic novel and the writings of Louisa May Alcott, and unfolds as the author’s alter ego, Jo March, reflects back and forth on her fictional life. In Gerwig’s take, the beloved story of the March sisters – four young women each determined to live life on her own terms -- is both timeless and timely. Portraying Jo, Meg, Amy, and Beth March, the film stars Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, with Timothée Chalamet as their neighbor Laurie, Laura Dern as Marmee, and Meryl Streep as Aunt March.

Amy's lines are my favorites as a woman. I love her development from an immature child to a grown up woman who knows herself.

We are doing a straight play version of little women next winter and I am completely busting every bone in my body to get Amy. She has such an incredible story and her character development is such an integral part to the script. I am just so excited!

I think this Amy was much more likeable and true to the younger version of the character than the 1994 film. The adult portrayal of Amy in the 1994 adaptation was boring and cold and it didn't portray Laurie falling in love with her well.
