What’s the movie Little Women about?
In nineteenth-century Massachusetts, with their father away serving in the Civil War, the women of the March family - the loving matriarch, Marmee (Laura Dern from Mask and Wild), and her four daughters, Jo (Saoirse Ronan from Lady Bird and Brooklyn), Meg (Emma Watson from Harry Potter and Secret Circle), Amy (Florence Pugh from The Falling), and Beth (Eliza Scanlen) - are left all alone to fend for themselves. Faced with genteel poverty, the fledgeling author, Jo March, is struggling to make a name for herself in male-dominated New York City; considerate Meg is now married, and the artistically inclined, Amy, is in Paris with their affluent Aunt March (Meryl Streep from Out of Africa and The Iron Lady). However, the news of talented Beth's illness will reunite the sisters under the same roof. But, more than anything in the world - much to the disappointment of the handsome next-door neighbour, Theodore "Laurie" Laurence (Timothee Chalamet from Call me by your name and Beautiful Boy) - the fiercely independent Jo yearns for freedom.

I dont know why everyone feels like they have to decide wether this scene is heartbreaking or empowering. It can be both at the same time and it is. That is what makes life feel alive.

“I think you will marry, Jo. I think you’ll find someone and love them. And you will live and die for them, because that’s your way.” I love this line so much, and it describes her fiery passion and all-or-nothing personality so well.

Being crazy in love with someone who doesn't love you back is the goddamn worst feeling ever. I know Laurie's pain well.

Holy crap, he's a good actor. He delivered those lines so naturally.

Honestly, i feel bad for Laurie but Jo is right, she cannot manipulate her true feelings and say she loves him as she doesn’t love him that way and if they did marry they rlly could be a disaster and possible not be able to maintain a friendship

The fact that he felt from the very beginning he had to change himself and hide certain things about himself in order for her to maybe love him, is a huge sign she wasn’t right for him but he was too young to notice and value himself enough. He truly didn’t think he was good enough as a person. He was always the one seeking her approval. That’s never healthy. It was inevitable she would reject him. But it still breaks my heart. They are classic case of a perfect almost. But it just doesn’t fit romantically.

I loved the little detail at 1:25-
When Jo goes closer to Laurie's face then when he leans forward as if he's about to kiss her and she puts her head back a bit realizing he took it the wrong way.

It's sad because Jo was right. She didn't love him that way and they probably would have ended up terribly unhappy :(

Its the one of the most heart breaking scene in the book as well as the death being one more of the very sad scenes of Little women

She's just the childhood crush his young heart never got over, then eventually they both grew up and matured and found great fits. Nothing tragic in here, just life ~~

She was scared of losing him forever if they married. When you have such an important bond with a person, you fear that it will break, and with marriages that bond wears out

Laurie giving off maximum Nice Guy vibes:

-Refusing to accept her NO
-Threatening suicide when she refuses
-Complaining because he’s so nice and changed so much for her and why doesn’t she just accept how nice he is
-Repeatedly saying he loves her while ignoring her feelings on the matter

I understand Jo all too well. Although I’ve never been in this situation, I also don’t see myself as a marriageable type. I love my freedom too much as well.
