Miata prices are at an all time high in 2022. Wondering why, and if they'll ever come back down? Watch and find out!

The market for the Mazda Miata, ESPECIALLY for first generation cars (NA), has been going to the moon. Let's talk about why in this video. We take a look at some Miata listed for sale in my area, on both Marketplace and Craigslist. Then, we take a look at some of the most EXPENSIVE Miatas ever sold. To wrap up, I talk about WHY I think Miata prices are so high, and if I think they'll come back down. Of course, this video is all my opinions about Miata prices, and it all could change! I've been wrong before :)

"Everything's expensive, Miata's are no different" is a great point Cash. Looking at prices of other used enthusiast cars, like Civics, Eclipses, 350z, BRZs and such, are keeping pace with what we're seeing with Miatas. Relatively speaking a Miata is still a good project car buy, in addition to all the other points you raised!

Just got my 1990 for 3500, elderly owned and has service records from everything the old man did, clutch at 150k, belts as well, brakes you name it it has been done. 166k on the clock and I paid 3500 love this thing so much. And being that the car has lived in New Mexico it’s whole life, it’s 100% rust free

I still have my 1993 Miata, bought it brand new, almost 200k miles on it now, a bit of rust on the lower bodywork, but mechanically sound and lots of fun to drive still.

I bought a Nb an view months ago for €3200 with 230000km on it. I had to change almost every gasket on the car. But i wont regret. If you drive it, you forget al the costs and brings you a smile🙂

just recently got interested in getting a miata. not because they're cars that are easy to mod and customize, just because i'm fascinated with how unique of a car it is, specifically the na model. really would love to have one, keep it stock, and just use it as a fun weekend driver that gives me some practice performing basic maintenance to keep it running. im absolutely devestated that it seems i missed the bus. all the miatas listed in my area are crazy expensive and there aren't many listed in the first place. maybe one day i'll be lucky enough, but for now it seems i was too late :/

Couple years ago I bought a stock, senior owned 1995 miata for $1800. Girl crashed into me and I didn’t wanna fix the bumper. Sold it for $800 and it still ran great. One of my biggest regrets :(

Paid $2, 500 for my 91k mile Miata about 4 years ago! One of my best financial decisions I made when I was 19 years old haha everyone thought I was crazy for wanting a Miata so badly.

I bought a 2016 Mazda MX-5 Grand Touring in near mint condition a little over a year ago. It had 42, 000 miles on the clock. It came from a dealer and was a Certified Pre-Owned car with a warranty. Paid $19, 300 out the door. While not a stellar deal, I feel like it was a fair price for what I got. I love it!

Just came upon your videos. I ordered my Miata in June 1989 and took delivery in September 1989. It now has about 135k miles. The engine's never been out. Back in the day, I had a Sebring supercharger installed and running only 5 lbs. boost. Also added were shocks, springs, sway bars and shock tower braces. Years ago, I bought a MEII trailer just because he was going out of business.
Keep up the good content.

Bought a stock ‘94 with some rust back in 2020 for $3, 500. 150k. Repaired the rust, updated the suspension (coilovers, sway bars and bushings), new tan cloth top, new factory color paint and added a set of rpf1’s. Basic maintenance as well. Glad to know this boom in prices means that I can almost sell it for what I’ve got in it.

I got a nb Mx5 from 1998 in 2021. Bought it for 2900 and spend around 100 for repairs, but when I see this video i think I got one of the best deals possible, it has only 2 small rust places that will be fixed soon. it also had nice oz racing wheels, catback stainles steel exhaust system and an air intake when i bought it.

my mom drives a stock NA with the leather interior + hardtop. Its in perfect shape and she paid $3500 in the late 90's off of her coworker. I grew up with it and even though I've driven alot of cars since then its still my favorite.

I have a 1991 SE BRG miata, #3650 of 4000. Until my neighbor backed into the FR fender 6 years ago, it was near mint exterior. It sat in my garage for the last 6 years. I just resurrected it a few weeks ago. It had a 300whp turbo set up on it that i removed, put it back to N/A and have been doing basic maintenance on it to make sure its running right; fuel filter, new fuel, injectors, plugs, all seals are still good, etc...thing runs great but the lightweight flywheel and racing clutch make it very touchy to drive. After driving my FBO E30 tuned 2016 Focus ST for years, (which i still daily), the Miata is still taking some getting used to lol. I do miss the power but the nostalgia of driving it especially at night is something I dont know if i could bring myself to part with. I had it listed for $6k casually with a clean title, and a $4-5k turbo set up included, but realized very quickly these go for almost $10k for just the car..i would have shorted myself thousands!

I have a 1997 that I bought on 11/07/2007 for $5900.00 that had 69, 178 miles on it. I still have the car and it now has 139, 000 + miles on it. It's a c package (in know that's really wrong but can't remember what they were calling it by 1997). It's Classic Red w/Tan interior. I had to go from Pa. to FA. to buy the car as there were no tan leather interior classic red cars to be had in my area. There are still just 2 other red tan interior cars that I've seen since owning the car for over 15 years!!! I know $5900 was a lot of money back then, but it is what I wanted and there was no other choice. Best Always,

2004 MSM just turned 43k on the clock i purchased in 2007. No internal engine mods, Muffler delete the OEM turbo is the perfect muffler, Tein Coilovers, HD rollbar, NT01's on 15x8 6ULs Make this so much fun to drive. Kept all my OEM MAZDASPEED Racing Hart/Enkei 17"wheels, Bilsteins, all other weight saving items aside. Years ago a fellow S2k owner recommended these Mazdaspeeds will actually increase in value. He was right on the money. Its been turn key fun for 15 years. In 2007 I almost purchased a track only miata looking back Im thankful i didn't since where i live im only short drive to beach or sierra mountains to freely drive instead of all the never ending track expenses. Super zoom zoom fun to drive on the track, mountains everywhere.

I am in the Netherlands.
I have owned one 1992 1.6 NA
I currently daily a 1994 1.8 NA
I bought my first NA in 2018 for €1300
Sold it for €2650 in 2020
I bought my second NA in 2022 for €1700
And i have placed an ad just to see my options, people offered around €3000 for it.
That incredible rise in just a month or two has made me decide to restore it. Im gonna daily it for now untill i graduate and get a decent job, then drop a few K€ into it, then store it dry and warm. Just to be driven on sunny days carefully. The days of hooning and literally redlining it everyday are over since parts are relatively rare and expensive now. Even for a Miata.
I do have the ability to find bargains, but honestly most of them are just clappedout and rusty af. I may have sold my 1300, - for double price, but that was including a 1000euro rustrepair and a bunch of mechanical maintenance.
All things considered i dont think theyre classical investment cars just yet. They are pricy collectibles. However i do think the NA will become classic and priceless due to the pop-ups. They are something that will never be found on new cars ever again. That makes the NA a legend

inherited my 1995 M edition from my Dad... I added a FM turbo to give it more go... and a bunch of other stuff to balance the extra power... love the car, but I have put a ton of money into it and as Jay Leno says " buy an old car, invest a few $10K into it and you'll have a car worth half what you paid" I paraphrase, but you get the point
