Do you compare your wealth based on the exchange rate to something like Peso? Of course not exchange rates are meaningless. If you own land it is land.

Japan is a Export economy. They have policies to make sure their currency is low to make it easier to export. Canada is mostly a service economy. The closer to USD the CAD is the better the economy thrives. Quantitative easing is way more dangerous in canada.
