Electric Dryer Not Heating - How to Replace Heating Element

The dryer is working but does not heat or dry the clothes. In this video I show you how to replace a heating element in a Samsung dryer which in this case was the cause of the no heating issue. Samsung, Whirlpool and a few others all used this particular heating element in their electric dryers so the part I used in this video fits quite a few models.

LoL. I like your father in law. I "patched" my dryer heating element about 10 years ago (it was OLD even then). Still waiting for it to burn out again!! I'll just buy a new dryer, whenever that happens. 😉

Do the blue and red wires on the burner element matter which way they go? I guess taking a picture before you take them off is a good idea too.

I would take a picture of every detail. When I replaced the motor on my dryer I took pics of everything from every angle. Good thing, too. I dropped the motor off at the repair shop so they could check it out and they ordered a new one. The part didn't come in for 3 months. That was way cheaper than the "Call-Out Cost" or the In Home Repair Service. It never hurts to use a little precaution than to apply a pound of cure.

Nice video, Jay. I have learned that when dryer no heat, test first that you have continuity through the dryer thermostat, the overheat safety stat and then check ther heating element is not open. My problem was an open safety stat due to a dirty dryer vent line. There was a kit for both thermostats for my dryer. The element was fine. My local appliance parts zdistributer had the kit on the shelf.

I have done this. They could have designed this to more easily access a part that will fail. I also wonder if the heating coil is under tension once installed which causes a break over time. Designed to fail?

I had the heater element replaced on my Samsung OEM-built Kenmore after year 7. I was expecting at least another 7 years, but it burnt out again after 3 years. The whole unit's going to the recycle depot if it burns out again, a service call is half the cost of a basic dryer.
