As an appliance tech, I like that you are showing people how to diagnose issues in the straightforward way you do.

NOTE: On some dryers the drum will continue to spin with a blown thermo fuse. they will be part of the heating circuit. Electric or gas.

I fixed my dryer on my own because I watched your videos - had to replace the drive belt ( and found a bunch of lint I was able to clean out ) thank you! ( it really wasn't hard- just annoying because the whole cover had to come off not just the back pannel

I don’t know if you’ll read this man but I can appreciate your videos so much because I’m a full time stay at home dad now. I was a maintenance Tech and I loved to fiddle with these appliances; dishwashers, washer, dryers, etcs.
Great technical analysis!

You are doing such a service sharing this info. Firefighter companies should hire you for home safety. Real estate agents should hire you to help new homeowners. Work with a home inspector too. I hope you're the most sought after handy man in your area!!!! Thank you!!!

First thing I learned how to check was the plug. The three metal plug tangs can get covered with oxidation and block proper current to the dryer. Using some sandpaper, nail file or hard eraser just clean that off all 3 tangs on both sides and then see if it works. Much cheaper fix than calling a guy who won't show up as promised or replacing expensive components.

Thank you for saving me $600 on a new dryer, and $350 on a service to tell me the same. I feel pretty empowered now and the tech came for $50 to check my work and made sure I put everything together correctly

I thought was crazy had dry that exact problem from day 1 we bought brand new. they kept trying tell it was the vent in the apartment we lived in. Pulled the timer off checked with ohm meter and was told the timer don't go out normally when bought a new timer. 10 years later still have the same dryer nice video

If the washer or dryer is very old, I'd check for burnt contacts first. both my washer and dryer are over 20 years old. Keeping both functional isn't rocket science, but be aware that the edges of the sheet metal are very sharp as a knife. You will quickly learn that the first time you disassemble a washer or dryer. Also vacuum out the inside of the dryer every few years because there could be piles of lint covering the motor causing overheating.

This saved me months ago. Timer for mine was $50 on amazon. Works like new.

Mine did something like that, except one of the contacts had slid out of position and was only touching on it’s edge. I took it completely out, polished the contact buttons, and popped it back where it belonged. So far, so good! I always keep a spare set of sensors too. My wife doesn’t like to have down-time with appliances.
Also, I keep several sets of agitator dogs for the washer, they are about the only things that I’ve had go bad on our washer…. For years!

I love content like this. It shows that very minimum effort and learning what to look for can prevent people from paying some wise guy to come do the exact same thing and charge you $600 for the service. Take care of your equipment, and it will take care of you. And you'll save a shit load of money. Stay thrifty and smart, y'all.

Thanks for the video - saving this. My Maytag dryer had stopped blowing hot air but was still spinning. Wife said she heard a grinding noise followed by a burned smell.
Cleaned out lint that had fallen beyond the catch and built up a little in there….what do you know?? It started blowing hot air again without needing to fix or replace anything.

Thank you for this video. It sure beats all of the other videos that take twenty minutes to get through
