Architects - 'Memento Mori' Lyric Video - Tom Searle Tribute

It's hard to find words for this. It just came so out of the bushes for me. Tom and Architects has been one of my biggest musical inspirations and influences for over 7 years. Tom's talent both as a guitarist and a songwriter was remarkable and monumental. His and the band's work has always shaped the whole metalcore genre to a whole new direction. They are the spark that still keeps the genre alive and fresh and succeeds to shape metal music as a whole. Rest easy, Tom Searle.

My utmost condolences goes to Dan, Sam, Alex, Adam and the whole Searle family and friends. Stay strong.

"The 'Swan Song' is a metaphorical phrase for a final gesture, effort, or performance given just before death or retirement. The phrase refers to an ancient belief that swans sing a song more beautiful than ever in the moment just before death, having been silent during most of their lifetime."

The quotes in this song are from British philosopher Alan Watts, a terrific man who often spoke about the nature of death. I'm sure Tom found great comfort in Alan Watts as Alan's lectures were often a logical, and comforting outlook on the ending of our lives.

That 'Swansong' is perhaps the most heartbreaking as well as beautiful moment I've ever experienced through a song. It hits me hard, just imagining how Tom felt writing that. I can't even begin to think how it would feel, to know your days are numbered. One of the very best songs I've ever heard.

One of my oldest friends died the same day with the same form of cancer as Tom. Rest easy, André and Tom, you'll both be deeply missed.

I will say, I can say I hold this piece of ART close to my heart, I was 16 years old when I was diagnosed with glioblastoma a form of cancer that attacks the brain and spine.
