With regards to the scientific accuracy thing, I think most people are aware by now the dinosaurs in the Jurassic Park franchise are not really anywhere near accurately reflecting what a real dinosaur would have looked like, so it stands to reason that, if you are buying this girl, then you are probably more concerned about how closely it matches what appears on screen

With a slight touch of extra paint, this would probably be a $200 Haslab

This figure is awesome for $32. It's nice when a large company cares about the product it's putting out. Mattel recently has been putting out some decent stuff IMO. Actually tempted to pick up some masters of the universe stuff which I haven't considered since the Classics days.

When the Beasts of the Mesozoic first came out onto the scene with their raptor series kickstarter, I really appreciated them as a line. It's not my thing so I didn't back it, but I really appreciated the creators' aim to make a more paleontologically accurate line of dinosaur figures away from the inaccurate depictions often shown in popular media. It's educational and clearly it has a large audience clamoring for it. Awesome.

Then the replies in your review showed me the snobbishness of some of the fans of the line. And it wasn't pretty. I didn't know there exists this contingent of dino fans who just shit on the JP series as a whole. I mean... paleontology should thank JP for reigniting the interest of an entire generation youths in dinos, not be mad that Hollywood movies are scientifically inaccurate.

The way some fans of the Mesozoic line seems to want to shield it from all criticism because "well it's scientifically accurate" is purely absurd.

Also let's face it. These depictions maybe the most scientifically accepted consensus depictions of the specific species, but there's still tons of imagination worked into them. Our knowledge and understanding of dinos keep changing with new discoveries. Remember when people were saying all dinos were covered in feathers including T-rex? Then it turned out it was mostly raptors feathers.

Anyways Thanks for the review. Now I'm thinking of picking up a 2nd one for customs.

I love this thing, as a Jurassic Park fan yeah it's inaccurate but it's still fun to pose. I think the glass eye works in certain angles but could've been done much better for the effect they were going for.

And as a dino nerd, dinosaur hands for the most part face eachother and not downward like Jurassic Park depicts the trex and raptors

You should really take a look at the Hammond Collection Brachiosaur. It has it's problems but the shelf appeal is insane for a mass retail release.

I totally agree with your assessment here. I actually got 2 Beasts of the Mesozoic about a year ago. A styracosaurus and a raptor species. I was so terribly disappointed with them both as its articulation seemed like a selling point to me. They’re definitely not terrible but not worth a $90 selling point. The paint was just so weak and the overall cost for it was overkill. They fooled me twice and got my money. I won’t be making that mistake again from that company.

About the hands thing, I don’t care how they’re posed, they aren’t scientifically accurate in the Jurassic Park movies either, but I think maybe what the commenter on the last video meant is that the palms should be facing each other instead of facing down, like a grasping position. That’s the actual correct way, but like I said I don’t care how other people pose their figures, so I didn’t say anything about it last video when I noticed.

Bendy tails works well when implemented correctly in collectibles (Rebor and Nanmu are good examples). The huge feet I can forgive, specially since it can stand without a stand.

If you were gonna do a review of beasts of the mesozoic you probably should've started with bistahieversor is probably the best in terms of fluid articulation and coloration. In terms of Hammond collection hands down carnotaurus.

I got this guy for 15$ and I was amazed by what I got and for even 55$ it is brilliant

I miss the Amber Collection, didnt bother with the humans but their 1/12 scale dinos were amazing. Like compare their raptors with Hasbro's Fortnite raptors and they are whole leagues apart.

Flawed, big feet, whatever, this thing is GREAT for creating custom figures. But the brachiosaurus of this line is freaking epic. Same goes for their recent Carnotaurus figure (Amazon sells it off and on if you can catch it), fun to pose and everything, has glass look eyes, good paint apps, small feet, all for $37! The bigger Beasts of the Mesozoic biped dinosaurs are mostly expensive barely poseable bricks, sadly 😢. A smaller company than Beasts of the Mesozoic is “Kitz Concepts”, which made a MASSIVE Monster Hunter Rathalos dragon, it's so poseable even EACH TOE can move. NO swap out feet/legs here, don't need them, they didn't get lazy with this things design. He comes with a flight stand, flames and eyes light up. But he's $300 😮(worth it- he's that HUGE). Shame Smaug the dragon was never made to be this good.

T-Rex is good enough for stop-motion film to bring it life and articulation.🙂

I can’t reasonably agree with “articulated tails don’t look good” when SH Monsterarts have fantastic looking poseable tails. Especially for Godzilla

The dinosaurs in Jurassic Park were never meant to be scientifically accurate. But they should definitely be accurate to the film representation that they are based on.

cant go wrong with more Dino's brother - the subscriber to dino formula is as old as time itself, well done!

I only bought it because it was on sale on Saturday. It's really nice, not perfect. Some day I'll repaint it. I even bought the gigantic indoraptor for $35.

$16 Black Friday deal, might still be up!

I was waffling at $55, forgot to check out at $32, and was pleasantly surprised to see it at half of that. My kids will love it!

This is the most life-like T-Rex I've ever seen👍 I might have to get one.
