Warsaw Uprising (1944) : Every Hour

In 1944, due to the advancing eastern front towards Warsaw, The command of the Home Army (Armia Krajowa - AK) decited to organize an Wprising in Warsaw. The fight was supposed to last about 3 days until the arrival of the Red Army. However, due to the deliberate delay Stalin's offensive on Warsaw,
The Uprising lasted much longer and was doomed to itself. The Outbreak of the Uprising took place on August 1, 1944 at 5:00 P.M

Important note: The German losses in the film are wrong. Their real number is around 2,000. My mistake arose from the emerging myth about German losses.

5:48 I'm going to assume that only 100, 000 people were left, but if it was indeed 100, dear god, the Warsaw population was wiped out, to be fair either way. The Nazis really were cruel and evil, slaughtering innocent people all for nothing.

Actual Wehrmacht casualties - 1570 killed and 9043 INJURED. Majority of civilians after few days were, to put it mildly, not happy about the uprising still going on (that is not so popular to say publicly). ~200.000 CIVILIANS WERE KILLED during the battles as well as MURDERED because of Himmler revenge decision + almost 90% of the city flatten. It was one of the biggest tragedy in Polish history. I hope we won't be in the same situation even again but please, wake up! People speaking about honor and bravery - think of these 200.000 people in basements, scared, alone and executed as well and not only about Polish soldiers with guns, flags and romantic picture of freedom.

For reference, Hiroshima lost 140, 000 as a direct result of the nuclear bomb over the course of two weeks, mostly civilians, while Warsaw lost 200, 000. 1 million people died in Aushwitz, while 1 million people were killed or displaced from Warsaw throughout the war.

Hard to see the Poles as anyone but pure victims from 1939 to 1989, even if the revolution wasn't planned. They payed the ultimate price for not surrendering.

There was no "deliberate delay" of the Soviet offensive. One day before the uprising, the Herman Goering division traveled through Warsaw to show that a Polish uprising was without any chance and in fact, the Germans carried a successful counter-offensive that pushed back red army far from Warsaw so when the Polish-Soviet army arrived on the right bank of Warsaw (where the AK the home army did not organise deliberately any uprising !!!), the Germans were already in full control of the left bank. From the very beginning this uprising was badly organised by military with only one obsession, not letting Soviets and Polish communists to take control of a functioning Polish capital city.

Huh after the war warsaw population dint exceed 100 the same thing happened in my city of Klaipėda after ww2. In 1939 there were 47, 000 people but in january 1945 after the liberation there were only about 50 left
