Once a year on august 1st, the people of Warsaw pay hommage to the fallen heroes that fought for freedom in 1944 during the Warsaw Uprising. The biggest rebellion against German Nazi occupation during WWII cost over 200 000 lives and destruction of the capital.

From an American of Polish descent...  God bless Poland and her people; may they never forget the bravery of their freedom fighters.  They died not only for Poland; they died for us, too.

I am an American who was listening to Sabaton and their song Uprising started playing, which prompted me to do research on the matter. Every time I watch this video I am unsuccessful at holding back tears due to the raw emotions of the video. I now wish to witness this at least once in my life. Never forget history and its heroes! God Bless Poland!

I've never been a fan of organised moments of silence, as I believe that everyone should be free to remember things in their own way. HOWEVER, the story of the Warsaw Uprising is so powerful and moving. Those who literally put their lives on the line deserve to be honoured, and seeing the whole city stand still like that is beautiful. Huge respect to you all.

All the best, from England.

Every year since I learnt of the immense sacrifices made by the Polish people during the Warsaw uprising I have been standing up and kept my mouth shut for one minute on August 1st. Every year I have done this, and every year I shall do this. I have nothing but respect for the brave Polish men, women and children who fought for their more than deserved freedom and safety. Every year I will show that respect in the way I can. By sacrificing one minute of my life to commemorate those who gave it all for their family, friends and country. Stay strong Poland, you have your freedom. But remember the cost. Respect from Sweden
