People always talk about James, Kirk and Lars, but can we appreciate how amazing Jason’s bass lines and backing vocals were? He is missed in Metallica.

I was there, the whole stadium was shaking. Like an earthquake. An amazing opening for an amazing night.

Rob is a great bass player but I really miss Jason. His backing vocals and energy were a huge part of the live show

This was honestly the last thing I expected Queen would open their tribute concert for Freddie with, but I am glad they did open with this because Metallica is awesome

Jason Newsted has most intense headbangs I've ever seen.

My 2 favorite singers.
1: Freddie Mercury
2: James Hetfieled

13 year old me watched this entire concert live, with my Mum (herself a lifelong Queen fan).

Of course, I was also absolutely obsessed with Metallica. So this sent me into orbit. The TV couldn't go loud enough.

Extreme must have been thinking "How the f*ck can we follow that!?" backstage. Best band to open that gig for sure. Brilliant!

Definitely my favorite performance of sandman! The way the band just puts the audience under their spell is amazing! Pure bliss

I have nothing against Rob Trujillo and I like the way he plays all the songs with his fingers and appears to have a nice character, but Jason Newsted's presence on stage is so energizing. His face, his headbanging, his backing vocals... a force of nature.

I have watched that concert live on TV. While I was already into Hard Rock and Metal bands, this concert made me form a band two years later. I moved on to two other bands after that but the magic playing with band mates is an unforgettable experience. Until 1999/2000 then I stopped singing. Three years ago I got my first guitar which was more in the case up until last year. Now, I enjoy learning and playing on two guitars.

It's still sad that this great event had such a tragic background. But for me it was really "It's a kind of magic".

i like to imagine the 40-50 year old music snob that came here because queen was one of their favorite classic rock band and as soon as the concert starts, this monster of a song starts as he gets shaken up from left to right

Man, the band was tight here and Kirk was spot-on with the solo. The best combination of performance and great sound for this song!
