I believe it would be safe. My daughter's beagle was diabetic and we added pumpkin puree' to his vet recommended canned (& very expensive) food & dry kibble mix. It helped to maintain his blood sugar for almost 2 yrs.
We miss the little beggar.💔😿

My kitty, Buffy, loved pumpkin and towards the end of her life her vet said pumpkin mixed with plain, unsweetened, unflavored yogurt could help with her diarrhea. She had advanced kidney failure. Mom's cat, Misty, was insane around pumpkin! She would try to get on the table when I was making pies and would sit in front of the stove when I baked them.

I bought new “pumpkin treats” limited edition at Target and my 14 yr old female cat is obsessed with them. I had to literally buy like 8-10 packs to stock up them.
Good to know I can just feed it to her.

We were given the suggestion to add pumpkin to our cats' diet. I found a good canned food from Tiki Cat with pumpkin. Both cats like it.

I portion out the purée on parchment paper and freeze it. That way I’m not wasting the can and it last longer. I just mix it with some warm water in their bowl to thaw and mix in the food.

Pumpkin & slippery elm are the two main ingredients in the tube of puree I recently brought to give to my cat twice a week after watching him struggle trying to cough up hair balls, freaked me right out watching him wretch like something possessed, guilt ridden that I could do nothing in the moment to help. Happy to say haven't had to witness any hairball related issues with him since, best less than a Tenna I've spent on a pet care product, still pretty amazed how effective a small dollop of this gunk in a tube actually worked, fast results too, noticeable changes from the very first dose, instantly eased the discomfort he was experiencing simply trying to just swallow, haven't heard or seen any coughing, choking or wretching since giving him it everyday for the first week, which clearly worked as stated, to release & help eliminate what had accumulated up to that point, loosening the tangled mess stuck in his throat, and ridding himself of it with ease. Amazing remedy, took just a small amount and a few days for my cat to be cured, and even less of it, once or twice a week prevents hairballs becoming a problem altogether.

I give my cat Tiki cat brand that has pumpkin puree in it & he loves it. It has been more recent that I've been doing this. I have been giving him Rachel Ray's Grain free wet cat food but was looking for a change. Last vet visit I was told he needs to lose weight.

I have a geriatric cat who LOVES pumpkin puree, there are a few different puree's I've found at the pet store, one is from Tiki cat (pumpkin and wheat grass) and another is Soulistic, just pumpkin puree, no wheat grass. I also stir my Tiki pumpkin treat in with his food, he seems to like it better than just plain. I've never tried to cook my own being I have issues with my hands, but wanted to add to the list of "easier on human hands" options =^..^=

I used to give my cats organic pumpkins ( in a carton, or can ) for their diarrhea & constipation issues ! About 1/2 --1tablespoon . They both loved it !!! But, if that causes soft poop & they drag their buttons...you'll be seeing orange streaks on the carpet !! Lol 💜🥁🐉🎵🎤🎶🎃💕💞
