Why I Chose the Edelbrock RPM Air Gap Intake Manifold

This is a YouTube Short of the full video where I removed my Edelbrock Performer 289 Intake Manifold to install a new, better Edelbrock Air Gap Intake Manifold for the 347 Stroker in my 1966 Mustang.

The car is a 1966 Mustang Fastback with a 347 Stroker and T5 transmission.

speaking of heat soak, when i was a teen i made a riser for my carb using a 1 inch thick piece of teak wood since i couldn't really afford one . not only did i get a nice riser but wood is a great insulator. kept that carb cool.

The air gap manifold is great for dry ice between runs. Keeps the carb cooler.

I have the same exact manifold on my 302 in my 68 cougar and it is the best overall manifold I feel for the street and strip combo it works just fine

I have this on my 350, works great. I added a 2" spacer and runs a tad better with my 4160 750 Holley and headers.. The straighter runners gives me some top end that I didn't have.

& for you people going to sniper fi throttle body or equal. The air gap eliminates the heat riser crossover which can effect the fuel injection .

What are you planning for the extra height of the air gap? Hood clearance may be an issue?

My thinking with the air gap manifolds because they do require a little longer to warm-up is to have an electric choke on them

The non-air gap RPM manifolds I would think you'd run a chokeless carburetor because there's no Gap in between it and that would work better with a Holley HP

Pretry sure the "air gap" is in refrence to the 1" slot in between the 2 intake planes. Notice how the regular performer doesn't have that slot there?

The performer will out perform the air gap on dyno testing !! So you can’t Judge by looks!! Plenty of videos showing intake comparison, The performer hands down bests air gap, and with a 1 in spacer plate it goes even farther!!
