Enjoying the videos. I’ve been catching more flatheads over the last two years and I am losing a lot of fish on circle hooks. I think the reason you explained is why. I’m about to change my hooks! Thanks for the vid.

I agree with your use of jhooks. The majority of the time the hook glides along the palate and sets in the corner of the mouth anyway. A really simple way to keep your live bait on the hook is to slice a small cross section of rubber worm and after hooking your bait, hook the piece of rubber worm down past the barb. What happens is in current, the barb hogs the hook hole out allowing the bait to wiggle off. The small piece of rubber prevents this ensuring that your bait stays on all night.

Big jig head for thick cover. (Slaps forehead) so simple yet so effective. I lost alot of tackle fishing log jams last year. And the rattle thingy...awesom!

Another thing I've found really helpful is the improved paternoster rig when fishing gills in deep cover. It's like a big dropshot and if you use 4 oz no snags with a 20 lb leader in conjunction with three way swivel if you break off your sinker, you can just clip another one on. The float on the rig keeps your bait up off the bottom keeping the gills from knitting a sweater around a stump.

Love the channel and got some great info. Iv found that when using a slip weight rigg, pull up on pole to take up slack as soon as bait hits the water, maybe reel a couple times. This will keep your leader line length more consistent. Tips 👍

Great vid.
To not lose the weight on your last rig, add a bead right below the weight, then a dacron bobber stop below that. Not sure how well this would work, but as long as the weight doesn't over-power the dacron bobber stop (or put more than one dacron bobber stop!) then if the line broke right at the hook's knot itself (that's often then case) then you might salvage the weight.

I've been subbed for awhile and I haven't seen this video yet. Glad it popped up. With it being so cold out I've been trying for Burbot and I think I might try one of these rigs rather than standard sliding sinker I usually do. Thanks for the info!

Just so you know, I'm proud to be part of the 🐀 pack. Love the videos.
Thanks Spencer

You can use old braid or the inner strands of para cord to make your own bobber stops. I use them to help me retain my terminal tackle in case of a break off. Just tie them right above your swivel or hook using a uni knot. I prefer the strands of para cord, I keep some on a spool of sewing thread.

Very good. I like the first rig and also have used the Linder rig for years.
You got a one minute jurassic park jeep commercial at the beginning by the way. Way to go👍

Very useful information. I live in Nebraska and fish the salt valley lakes I know there's giants in these lakes I will definitely use this information to my advantage. And if I catch one I will be sure to let you know.

Those folks Who say Your line is to heavy, Your leader is to short .If they feel any pull they will spit it out .Have no problem using nylon cord with a big circle hook tied to a limb with a big sinker and a bream or crawdad as bait

Nice video, we're coming into the fall and winter months so getting ready for some river fishing. Thanks for the different rigs Especially the 3rd one. On the MS River and always looking for new ways to NOT get snagged. Have an awesome day. Thanks _Scott
