It's so kind of her to provide evidence to make this easy to dismiss it 😂😂😂

She expected him to stop or go around. However she didn’t leave a child enough room to go around. He was probably afraid he’d end up in the street if he went around the front. So he attempted to go around the back and didn’t have room to turn.

As soon at the plaintiff crossed the sidewalk, I knew it was over for her.

The kid had plenty of time to see the car pull out and stop. He probably got nervous and didn't know what to do. Most kids his age probably would have done the same thing.

Lmao imagine doctoring the footage to slow it down only to be betrayed by your own bush 😂

Bringing evidence for her case to be dismissed 😂

This is beautiful! The child was unharmed and the lesson was available to the plaintiff and anyone watching.

Hope the little boy and his family had a nice trip to California 😊

there's a principle in the UK Highway Code for road safety that assigns a heirarchy of right of way - Judge Judy seems to be using a similar principle here. cyclists have to stop for pedestrians, cars have to stop for cyclists and pedestrians, and stuff like that. its based on who is more at risk if an accident were to occur and if you go against the code, you're at fault. makes sense to me! as an aside, this is one of the reasons jaywalking is not a crime in the UK - pedestrians on the road always have right of way over vehicles.

So she blocked the sidewalk and expected a child to either zip on the road and potentially endanger himself, or to stop so she could have right of way?

Yeah, that's not how it works. JJ was right, that bush blocks her sight of the road. She should be happy it wasn't an electric bike she blindsided. Sure the kid had plenty of time to see her and stop, but he had the right of way.

I think the kid miscalculated his turn, he probably thought there was enough room for him to take that turn but couldn't see it because of that bush. So yea, either way the bush blocked the view and thankfully the plaintiff did see the child on time.

As the driver, you have to see what's going on around you, and if she saw the child, she shouldn't have pulled out on the sidewalk

I really think the kid had enough time to stop his bike before hitting her. Maybe he wasn’t paying attention and looking down. But she did stop when she saw him around the bush. I guess she’s going home and doing yard work.

At first I sided with the plaintiff but after hearing JJ's explanation about the sidewalk i realized she was right in that the plaintiff made the wrong move

Are we watching this one.. This was a quick and easy one.

The first thing I was taught when i got my driver's license was never assume the other person will do 'x'. That includes breaking the law, so if you see a car coming up to a stop sign, make sure they WILL stop before you proceed. The only thing you have control over when driving is your own car.

The car was clearly in view and the kiddo started pedaling again.

The plaintiff learned something and accepted her loss with a smile.. I hope there's no ongoing issues in the hood.. Maybe I'm the only one who sees it but JJ seems to have a soft spot for kids as long as they're just being kids..
