dosent need to require registration and licencing that is just a scam. we just need laws specifc for light electric vehicles the spells out that vehicles that are capable of keeping up with traffic and are motorize like that need to follow the rules of the road and wear protective gear.

What is really need is NYPD cops to enforce traffic laws. But they won’t. NYPD doesn’t want to get involved with low grade infractions/crimes. Part of it is they don’t want a record of minor crimes that would make their crime stats rise. Registering e-bikes is just a money grab. It won’t improve safety. The only way to improve safety is to enforce existing laws.

I think it would make more sense to assume the majority of people who are following most of the laws. The police can actively look and see if people are breaking laws, confiscate their bikes "but they have to pay like $100 fine" and come to the station to pick it up.

Without needing your license and all that. Possibly take a picture of them or have them sign that this is there and they were riding it.

Specify the reason it was being taken specify the levels of finds for what reason they confiscated it, give them 90 days.

In my opinion it's a way of correcting people without, making it simply a money generating opportunity. Enter father Ensure that is just and it doesn't become a constant it'd be on the voting ballot to continue every 4 years.
