Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machines are the mainstay of treatment for those with Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA - loud snoring and stopping breathing during sleep), and many people cannot tolerate the machines. So the news of a recent study showing the benefits of an antiepileptic drug in reducing the symptoms of OSA is welcome. However, the study has not been peer reviewed or published yet, and a larger study needs to take place before the process of licences and agreement of the NHS NICE or the FDA approval.
