Ody: *waits 20 whole years and never cheats once*
Hamilton: *waits one week and cheats for a month*

To be fair, in the versions I’ve read, he didn’t really have much of a choice...

The weirdest thing about plp who say Odysseus cheated, is that if he was a female character in the exact same situation no one would say that, bc a woman being raped and forced to sleep with someone and have kids or otherwise her and all her friends would be killed, no one would dare say she was at any blame

Epic the Musical Odysseus: "Nah bro I'm married I'm good"

I get this a joke also funny but bro: Odysseus got rid of immortality, one of the most fairest goddesses, and all his men for her and his son too. He fought in Troy based on his word. He even bowed all her wooers when severely outnumbered. Calypso trapped him there for seven years and exploited every vulnerability he had of his homeland and wife. Circe had half his men turn to swines unless he convinced her against her evil. No man or woman would have chosen the same decisions, the minimum would be worse. Odysseus is loyal AF.

He did it to Circe to Return his men into human again, but Calypso is just Obsessed with Odysseus so he have no choice but to get imprisoned by her love(more like he's terrified and miss his home and Penelope )

The joke woud be funny if not the fact that in both cases he was SA by them.

In Circes case he literally needed to do everything she wanted to saves he's mens witch she turned into pigs, and he stayed on her islad to repair they damage ship and gather resources bc the were blown of track and they run out of food. He did not ejoyet he's time with Circe whatsoever, when she offered him to stay in her palace he refused rather to sleep on he's ship with rest of the crew.

Calypso literally trapped him on her island and forced herself on him when he said "no". In Odyssey it was straight up said that he didn't give he's consent but she did it anyways. He literally spents days crying on the beach bc of that.

He refused immortality and he loved he's wife and son more than anything. He was loyal af

Yes, I get the joke
But he didn’t really have a choice either time
Meanwhile everyone’s favorite musical adaptation he straight up says to Calypso “Hell no, I could kill you where you stand. I’m no pet, I’m a married man.”
So in all adaptations I’ve seen he either was unwilling or is equally loyal

You forget they're both Godesses.

Hermes instructed Odysseus that "If she asks for it, you must give it to her."
He had no choice with Circe, and yes, he spent a year on her island, but he was under a spell almost.

Calypso? She 🍇d him. Every nigh Odysseus would cry and beg to go home. He had no choice. Shed force herself onto him.

Odysseus was not a "cheater". He was an s/a victim.

Tbh Odysseus was kinda forced-.. If you think abt it

If you read the odyssey, he literally cries after every time calypso makes him sleep with her, and circe only turned his men back after he agreed to sleep with her. He wasn't a willing participant

At least Odysseus returned to his wice and family so definitely better than Zeus. Also Calypso and Circe were island dwelling immortals who lived in solitude and Calypso fell for him and Circe... Well the gods told him to do it if he wanted to get off the island and get his crew back (helped a bit in the long run) but you get my point.

He was literally brainwashed (in Calypso’s case) and coerced (in Circe’s case) into doing that, but yeah, make fun of one of the most loyal husbands in Greek mythology I guess. 😶

I understand that this is a joke, but I do want to clarify for anyone who doesn't know the context.
1. Circe wouldn't agree to free his captured men otherwise. The circumstances differ a bit depending on the specific version of the story. In most of them, his consent is arguable.
2. Calypso is literally a goddess who trapped him on her island for 7 YEARS. He had nowhere else to go. In some versions, she even withheld food or shelter until he did certain things with her. His consent was not even a factor.
3. Consent applies to all people regardless of gender. SA happens to men too.

I already addressed this before, there was this old Odyssey movie in which there was a scene where Hermes tells Odysseus about the antidote to Circe’s potions. Then he says that when she fails to poison him she will try to seduce him. Then Hermes says to Odysseus: “Remember Odysseus, You CAN’T deny a goddess.”

"An unwilling lover laid with a lover all too willing." Man was not consenting to Calypso.

And for Circe he had to do anything she asked if he wanted to save his crew and had to stay longer due to his wrecked ship needing repairs. This was when he was still trying to be hopeful that the journey back wouldn't cost them more men so of course he wanted them safe.

Though this is funny, I think People forget that he was blackmailed by a NYMPH and a GODDESS. Odysseus basically Rejected Immortality, Two very Beautiful and powerful women, Sacrificed 6 or all men, while still being hunted down by Poseidon AND IT'S ALL BECAUSE HE WANTED TO GO BACK TO HIS WIFE. If that ain't down bad for a wife than I don't know what is
