Enjoy the video.
Thank you guys. 🙏
Just a suggestion…, there’s enough noise on HF. Having that constant added music in the background when the radios were on only added to the noise.

As a musician, I personally find these added “canned” music tracks only muds the clarity of the actual message being conveyed.
Just my opinion. 👍

Hayden,
Thanks for the video.
Beautiful scenery and radios, it doesn't get any better than that.

I got winded just watching you two hike that hill! Looks like an awesome spot that's worth the hike though.

I wouldn't think of setting up that close to a radio mast with possible interference.
I was getting on hilltops on Sundays in the early 1980's using a converted Pye Bantam on 70.260 MHz xtal talking back to two stations in the Stockport area at a pre-scheduled time, usually 1pm. Had a telescopic ¼λ aerial on it, ½ Watt output of a.m.
Got into Scotland with me at 1300 feet with a h/b 3 element Yagi. Easy access with a road and my 1971 Land Rover.

That’s the reason I wrote the first article in AR magazine promoting SOTA in VK so that mad operators like you both would get out and on the air ;)

I learnt this lesson today trying to operate up at Mt Wellington.
Though it was no better lower on the mountain. 🤔
I met Jim at the inaugural ham conference. Looking forward to it.

Lolz….great content young fella! I wish we had more big hills here, but I was the first to activate the highest peak in WA.😊

A great presentation. I can imagine if it were myself doing that hike the legs would be aching a bit for a few days, and the walk down would be challenging, being so steep and on loose looking ground, you'd need to take care not to slip.

I'd be runnin' up that road
Be runnin' up that hill
With no problems

Great scenery and video Hayden!

The amount of times I've driven to the top of Mt Herringback to reset the former VK7RAG packet digi! Thanks to the 100w pager that was installed in 1996...

I liked the scene where you put the camera down and were walking past it, talking about shots where people walk past the camera. 😂

I have the K6ARK 100w that I used for a linked dipole. I'd love to get a QRP or even a 20w kit with a female BNC that I could make into an EFHW, but they are never in stock on Amazon. I don't know if they're just not putting the kits together any more or if they really sell out as soon as they're available. They're fantastic little baluns/ununs. Super compact.

forgot you were going up and thought you both had back problems 😃

Looks like that small tower is set on top of the old fire tower (demolished) concrete base.

My first thought: I was shocked you could get that close to a major tower like that without security of some kind challenging you. Unlike HAMS, anyone else getting that close to a transmitter would usually be up to no good/sabotage.

My Second thought was: I wouldn't want to expose myself to that amount of RF radioation. With ionizing frequency starting at 2, 398, 340 GHz, there are some heavy duty Microwave dishes there, I wouldn't want to take a change on being there.

Third, I was surprised the front end of your radios weren't overloaded with all that RF around.

4th and final thought... Were your transmissions interfering with the tower? (Harmonics)... I mean you were practically ON the tower. LOL

Love your wire winders. Much more practical use than original political intent. If you run short I have several available within walking distance.

When I finally tried hiking poles, I kicked myself for not doing it years before. Really takes the pressure off the knees.

Not sure I'll be able to unhear Hayden saying he was working the pole. 😉
