I love Mr.Perlman because I was really depressed for a while. I had been diagnosed with a brain tumor and was given a very grim prognosis. He helped me overcome my debilitating fear, anxiety and depression. He doesn't just play the violin. He imbues so much feel into the piece it is impossible to not feel moved by the music. I've smiled and cried to his music. It was a constant companion in my journey. Now I'm tumor free and I honestly feel I owe a lot of my present healthy mental state to him. I wish he sees this though. He'll get a good laugh out of it

I got to see Itzhak recently. He plays and the violin quite literally sings! With Schindler’s list it’s a bit more of a cry, like the violin is crying out. He doesn’t just play, he uses the violin as another voice.

I feel so fortunate to have seen Mr Perlman in the mid 1990s in a small venue. He still used arm crutches to walk then. I seem to remember him playing a golden period Strad...it was a fabulous concert. And even back then, some dummy didn't silence their phone which rang during his playing....first being self taught, having had polio and yet excelling in what he was inspired to do, he is an example of achievement through determination. I also remember he had a nice sense of humor and I'm willing to bet he could laugh at this video and himself.

I love these kinds of videos! You should do one for Maxim Vengerov - he tends to lay his head on the violin like it's a pillow!
