Fun fact: the "Russian" bow-hold is actually hungarian, as it was used by Auer and his pupils.

Sautille' is sautill'e. Maybe, the bow becomes to immobile and the ring finger too if the violinist will lay it on the bow stick. The thumb and the middle finger build a link that is moving itself when he/she plays very fast notes. Not only in sautill'e.

He's great, one of my all time favorites, but the young Itzhak fakes the chromatic scale from the low a to the d/e. I don't blame him. It just tells me how many small choices he's made in assembling this amazing performance.

Russian bow hold is not russian, i have seen it from the Heifetz’s teacher, maybe he individually changed something, like hold a pencil, for all the world is the “Franco-Belgian” i dont know if it is actually from there that bow hold but it is for all the world and maybe for Hungarians it is different, that would be the “russian” but russians dont hold it like hungarians

Who the h*** cares how the bow is held. It's the result that counts.
