NZXT’s H1 ITX case had a bit of a rough start, thanks to investigations by Gamers Nexus, but it has since been revised and should be safe to use. So, is the H1 worth buying? My experience might... shock you.

So is it fixed? I like the price and the specs on their H1 mini.

I bought the H1 when it was first released, I love the case, survived through the riser cable issue and the poor 650W SFX PSU is running my 3080 and 5900x just fine... I love the case and would build in it again, given i've added a few small mods to lower temps

Would this PSU issue be fixed, including any other past issues with the H1? Been looking for a pre build, something small and not distracting (RGB lol) and the specs and price on their website are respectable for this day and age. Just wondering if I should still buy this or not :)

@9:16 a flexible screwdriver attachment would do the trick here.
I second the thoughts of others here - maybe send the PSU to Gamers Nexus for investigation?

I've been keeping an eye on everything related to the NZXT H1 since I did a build for my GF. However... now you got me looking at all the builds I have done because I use Seasonic

Wow, I would never expect that of a Seasonic PSU!

Seasonic is not perfect. I built four 4770k machines back in the day (development workstations without GPUs) using the fanless SS-400FL PSUs and had three of them fail in about 4 years (all silent failures, not catastrophic like yours). I've also used a bunch (12-14?) of their 650 and 750 watt units in various builds, and never had any problems with those, just the 400s.

I've got a RTX3080 in mine. The EVGA XC3 fits without any changes. The ASUS TUF 3080 fits if you remove the filter.

How in the hell did the psu fail when it was powered off? did your power grid malfunction sending a power surge?

Thanks for a solid, fair-minded documentation of your experience. It's good to know that reviewers can have a bad personal experience without necessarily writing off an entire brand or model.

From the way you spoke about the H1 and SFF in general, you don't strike me as the target audience for this chassis. NZXT is pretty heavy on aesthetics and SFF is pretty forgiving when it comes to raw performance.

So, haha, it is probably targeting people more like me: who want something to look subtle on their desk, and hold some high-powered kit, while being small enough to not be mistaken for a mini-fridge.

As far as the noise, I think I have basically accepted that only a handful of case fan companies are really viable if you want decent thermals/noise in a small space—Noctua, Arctic, Scythe, and maybe Thermaltake if you don't hate them. So, I'd guess changing the 140mm fan out would probably be a big help in that department.

Anyway, thanks again, really helpful!

Gave a thumbs up because of the specific detail. Not feeling the negativity towards the case simply because of the difficulties that come along with it being a small form factor case. I love the YouTubers that still get excited about challenges you come across when building something unique. With all these online build shops flooding the market, if I wanted easy, I’d just go to one of those guys. Have a little more fun like my boy Linus and I might become a subscriber.

I'm so glad none of my components have popped up on one of the bad review videos. Pays to be informed. Thanks to guys like you!

That's kinda surprising to see a Seasonic PSU fail like that. Just goes to show that just about any component can have defects, even stuff from reputable brands.

14:00 I’m surprised it doesn’t have a gigabyte logo on the psu 🤓🤨🤦🤦‍♀️ Sorry had to say it hehe 🙃

How to replace THE AIO Cooler when the time comes?

Thank god for the CM NR200. They are quite spacious and can be fitted with even a large card without PCIE riser cables or any other stuff that might present as a point of failure.
Kinda surprising that NZXT PSU (with Seasonic OEM) blew up just like that. Guess I'm gonna stay away from new PC parts for the time being.
