The K20 is a highly dependable engine; yet, like other engines, it has a few weak areas, flaws, and problems that tend to crop up frequently; we've collected all of those in this handy reference video to accompany the article on our main site to help you find them and, ideally, prevent them.

If you follow the recommended maintenance intervals and use quality motor oil, your K20 engine will serve you well for many years to come.

As long as they are regularly repaired and maintained, there should be no major issues. Keeping up with routine oil changes is especially important for the K20 after the engine has been tuned, as this helps to maintain the engine's performance and reliability.

We think 120,000 miles is too long before having to adjust the valves and replace the timing chain, although this obviously varies tremendously depending on how the engine is cared for and in what sort of operating range it is used. Areas of concern in the K20 range.

Hi there, I need some advice for sudden loss of low end torque, what should I be checking? When the VTEC kicks in, it is not as powerful as before, I am using 98 octane fuel. My fuel consumption also suffers like crazy recently.

FN2 owner here (yea the worst one apparently) I’m sitting on 123k miles and it after some general maintenance (timing chain, tensioner, guides, PCV valve, plugs, panel filter) the car runs a dream - apart from the rattling from the god awful shocks.

i have a k20 acura rsx type s and have back firing in the first to second and was wondering why i have a full exhusted and short ram air intake but started now after 2 years driving it
