Do realize that blown head gaskets CAN be replaced and the engine saved, IF there wasn’t any serious damage to the engine. But the engine needs to be thoroughly inspected for damage and I was speaking of the worst-case scenario when answering this question in the video.

A kid maybe around 6-7 once told me he slept in a racecar bed, while I was checking out in Publix. I told him "heh well I sleep in a real car".

It's great that you take the time to answer questions for your fans. I use head gasket sealer the kind you poor in your coolant and it worked 30 thousand miles later still going cost like 27 dollars

Absolutely correct. There seems to be fewer good mechanics like Scotty. One excellent in our area is 360 Auto. The owner really knows what he is doing.

Love your channel!!
I have a 2006 Altima with 156, 575 miles with new radiator and all new coolant hoses. Car started running rough and now engine oil is over filled and milkshakes looking. What repairs would you recommend. I am mechanically inclined and do most all my repairs . Your thoughts on a head gasket stop leak? Thanks so much. The car is in excellent condition.

Scotty,
I picked up an s10 blazer over the weekend, 1994 square body 4.3 automatic with 72, 000 original miles. It was garage kept for a good part of its life. Do you think I should keep it for awhile or get rid of it?

Scotty, The owner stated that his 2002 Honda Odyssey has "coolant mixed with the oil". I am surprised you did not state that not to bother with a head gasket because his crank and rod bearings are destroyed due to the coolant going in the oil pan.

If valves are sealing properly and neither the block or the head is cracked, just machine the head put new headgasket on, torque everything to spec and off you go.

Scotty, I'm getting this code, WBC on my 1950 Studebaker. Does that mean Wind Blows Cold?

I work my 1997 Saab 9000 CSE, like brake jobs, aircon overhaul, engine mounts, suspension bushings, and what not. Bought it with 57k km, and now it's just a bit shy of 100k km. 18 years ago I had my 1990 9000 CD. Both cars are really quite easy to work on, even to an DIYer.

Thought I'd wanna chime in for some Saab myths.

Hey Scotty I love your channel. I don’t know how you are about people asking questions… You just really seem to know your style. I have a 2001 Volvo v70 The red triangle came up on the dashboard says engine system service required. When I press on the odometer knob (or whatever it is) to make the service light clear it blinks and shows code 44 and 65. Any thoughts?

I bough a 2004 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V previous owner overheated the car and now has a blown head gasket I look up on eBay and found an engine with low mileage on it so now I’m thinking of buying it and replace it instead of fixing the same engine thanks 🙏 for the advice Mr.Scotty
