10 Board Games a DAD will LOVE playing with his KIDS

These are the top 10 most engaging board games I can play with my kids. An no, these aren’t “just” family games, these are games that have just a little more meat to them, games that a board gaming hobbyist father can share with his kids OR take bring to his adult game night.

More specifically, here are how my “dad” board games differ from my “family” board games:
1. Our “Family” board games don’t require any reading. Since “Dad” board games are permitted to be more complex, some amount of reading is permitted.
2. While our “Family” board games are less competitive, the “Dad” board games can be a little more combative. (See #7!)
3. Some of these games have themes that are a little more align with admittedly stereotypical “dad hobbies”

Thanks for the fresh takes Ben, very much looking forward to getting Role Player and Via Nebula to the table when my kids are older.

My son's favorite game is Galaxy Trucker. He was easier to teach the game to than most adults.

I really like the idea of 5 tribes, my daughter is nearly 7 so I'll probably save buying it until she is 8 maybe.
Removing the bidding is a good idea.

I would like to buy the game evolution. Which version is best? Climate, Oceans, or bas Evolution? Thanks

Great video! I like your number 1 pick though I’m not sure if my 7yo would be able to get it yet. Lots of crunchy decisions and math. We might try Mechs vs Minions soon! I bought it 4 years ago 😂 and have been waiting for the day to introduce it to my kids.

Why does this gem of a channel have so little subscribers?! Ain’t nobody interested in makeup or gossip

I realize this is a late comment, but we've had a few bangers hit the table as of late. I was looking for a game to replace racing type stalwarts, such as Candy Land, Trouble, and Sorry. I recall you telling me that you avoid games with "take that" such as TTR, but my kids are ruthless gamers who crave blood it seems. I landed on a nice little gem called Jamaica. It's a pirate racing game that allows battles. The racing gives the kids a clear cut goal to work toward, gives them ability to take down other players without ruining their chances to win, and is just a lot of fun to play. I don't hear much about Jamaica because it's a little older of a game, but I'm glad I came across it. I also took your advice on Quest of El Dorado, though it was a little hard to find (I had to order it from Finland). El Dorado hasn't hit the table yet, but I think it'll be a hit with them as well. Really enjoy your content, it really helps us dads.

I prefer Dinogenics with the Controlled Chaos expansion but still a great game to play with younger gamers. Great choice if I do say so myself. 😎

I feel like most of these are pretty complex for under 12 to really appreciate the gameplay. Is that true?

You should check out Downforce. Simple and great game with little luck.
