Idaho: Unveiling the Secrets Behind Its Unstoppable Popularity.

How did Idaho become so popular? And how does Idaho continue to be one of the best states to move to in the United States? It isn't just real estate, no matter what a realtor tells you.
Idaho is a beautiful state, but the land can only do so much to draw people in decade after decade.
The people and government have to be doing something or a bunch of things right to maintain this type of popularity.
Everyone loves the state. In my experience, from running this channel over the years, Idaho gets the least amount of negative comments. The second is Utah, Maine, or Washington, but they aren’t even close to Idaho.

Over the past handful of decades, Idaho has emerged as a highly desirable destination for people relocating within the United States. This has become a magnet for individuals and families seeking a better quality of life and new opportunities. The Gem state's popularity can be attributed to a handful of factors.

As a kid, I would visit my grandfather there every summer, and as a teen, I never wanted to do anything else with my summer. Sadly, since his passing nine years ago, I have almost no friends or family in the state anymore, but part of me still yearns to be there again.

You're hitting around the edges, Briggs. I live in California, and EVERY person I know who has moved to Idaho did it because of the state's complete absence of looney-left politics.

*Briggs* As an Idahoan, you pretty much nailed it.! We moved here from L.A. in 1999 and it was the best decision I ever made. YES, it's a little frustrating with so much growth, MOST of which is in the *Treasure Valley* or "Boise Metro area" to the outside world, but change is inevitable and ALOT of the frustration stems from a) Infrastructure hasn't caught up to support the growth and b) a deep seated fear of the influx changing what makes Idaho so special. *I watch all your videos brother* and you produce quality work. Let me list a few other aspects or accentuate what you mentioned for those that might read this comment which contribute to Idaho being so special

1) No huge cities.! It's hundreds of miles from a Seattle, Portland, Denver, etc. SO.... if there are issues in one of those cities, you don't get the spillover like you do say in California, where I grew up.

2) 2/3 of this state is BLM land so it will CONTINUE to be an outdoor paradise.

3) EVERYONE is Packin.! And everyone knows it so 2nd amendment is flourishing here. Not nut cases, just people who don't want their property or family harmed.!

4) The cops don't play here.! BELIEVE ME.! That nonsense seen in other places such as your home spot, Portland, ain't gonna be tolerated.! Such a shame as Portland is gorgeous.! They should have kept it weird and thru policy, not made is scary.

5) A mixture of historic buildings in downtown Boise.! Way cool architecture like you would expect in say Savannah or Charleston, mixed with New and well kept buildings. New schools, new everything. And I defy you to find graffiti, it isn't happening.!

*Nicely done Video*

Grew up in Idaho and I can say a majority of this is spot on. Having a lot of family dispersed across Oregon, Washington, California, and Arizona, I can say everytime I come back to Idaho it reminds me of the special things going on here and the crazy amount of people it's attracting. I personally love the growth because I think this state and its values has a lot to offer.

I live in a small town in Southern Idaho and since the influx the water table has begun to be depleted.
And now there are a lot of people who are from here can barely afford to live here.

I've lived all over the United State (and a few places outside it). After spending a couple of decades in the SF Bay Area we decided to retire to North Idaho. The reason we, and the vast majority of our neighbors, decided to move here was safety and the rule of law. Politics and policy matter, they matter a LOT.

I don't know if Idaho can be considered "affordable" anymore. You mentioned the average home price in ID is just above the national mean. That's for people trying to buy into the limited number of suburban home developments in ID. Many people view a move to ID or other rural states as a chance to get some acreage and more privacy that the usual housing development provides. As just one example, our neighbors sold an undeveloped ten acre parcel, with almost no flat parts on it, for $280, 000 in the middle of this last winter. To clear that parcel, build access roads, drill a well with a good pump and filtration system, install electricity, and set yourself up with propane will cost another $100k-$150k. So now you've spent $380k to $430k and you haven't even broken ground on the foundation for a house yet. That raw land transaction is now considered a bargain just six months later. I'm curious, for those of you out there who live in the "high cost" parts of the country, does this seem like a bargain or affordable to you? Maybe it is still a lot cheaper than the rest of the country?

Great video! Californians are NOT the only ones moving there though, a lot of people from Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Texas, Colorado, AZ and Florida and especially Washington

I live in Pocatello Idaho and I agree with everything in this video. Especially the points regarding education for people or kids with disabilities, the amazing healthcare, the clean streets, very little racism. We love our guns and it’s a red state, but still friendly and comfortable for the liberals. It is full of super friendly and very very fair people. The drug scene in Idaho has been addressed much faster and more fully than in many other places right now with the opioid epidemic. It’s just a great place. I love it here:)

I've lived in Idaho my whole life. Almost everyone who has moved here are glad they did. The locals aren't happy about the influx of people moving in though. People who have been in Boise their whole life are being forced to move because they cannot afford the rising cost of rent. I live just outside of a small rural town about 100 miles north of Boise. We have fiber internet even to the most remote houses miles outside of town. The phone company got a huge government grant for that one. It is a conservative state except for the huge amount of federal money that the state depends on. Ada County and the Sun Valley areas are mostly left-leaning. Alcohol is a big thing in the small towns because there isn't much else to do. The cost of living is going up in Idaho and will continue to do so so keep that in mind if you plan on moving here.

Born and spent the first 8 years in Idaho, I'll move back in a heart beat if my daughter will. Great place to visit and live. If you are thinking of moving to Idaho, leave your liberal politics where ever you are now, that will be what looses you friends in Idaho, not saying there aren't any, just not popular with Idaho.

I live in Idaho and fit in perfectly here. Like many others, I value my freedom and own guns. Great folks here and like you said, great outdoors which is what I'm all about.

I am about a 5th or 5th generation Idahoan on both of my parents' sides. I can trace my lineage back to the Mayflower and of course Europe. My grandmother grew up on a sheepherding farm in Oreana while my other grandmother was a Boisean back in the 1920s. Her family was in Boise long before that. Some of us have deep roots in Idaho.
