Idaho is a beautiful state with stunning landscapes, outdoor recreation opportunities, and a low cost of living. However, despite its many advantages, some people are hesitant to move there. In this video, we'll explore the pros and cons of living in Idaho to understand why some individuals may choose not to make it their home.

However, we'll also address the challenges that people might face when considering moving to Idaho. For example, the state's low population density can make it challenging to find certain amenities and services. Additionally, the cold winters, limited job opportunities, and lack of diversity might be a deal-breaker for some.

To provide a well-rounded perspective, we'll interview locals who have lived in Idaho for years and have experienced both the benefits and challenges firsthand. We'll also share statistics and data about Idaho's economy, population, and demographics to paint a comprehensive picture of life in the state.

By the end of the video, viewers will have a better understanding of what it's like to live in Idaho and why some individuals might choose not to move there. Whether you're considering a move to Idaho or just curious about life in the Gem State, this video will provide valuable insights and information.

I’ve lived in Idaho Falls my entire life. Whenever I meet someone from out of state, they always talk about how friendly everyone is

The outdoors is actually one of the best things about idaho…nice lakes, good skiing, beautiful mountains…not boring to me

One of the problems is outsiders move here because they did not like where they came from. Then they try to make it like where they came from. Doesn't make sense but that is an issue.

I just moved to Idaho for a temporary seasonal retirement. I'm alone, 73, a female, so I was concerned. To my surprise, the people here are the kindest, most helpful and wonderful I have ever met or known. I have traveled the country and the world, lived abroad and in many states. I love it here. It feels like family here.

Moved to Idaho from New York State in 1984. Lived there for 38 years. Loved it. Moved to Minnesota two years ago to be closer to grandchildren. Still have our home in Idaho. Everything you said about Idaho is spot on. Can't wait to go home to Idaho each summer.

I lived in Salmon, ID for three years, I loved it. I am a pilot, and hubby was an ATP, CFII, etc. We learned to cross-country ski, lived out of town on two acres, huge garden, and White Water Rafting! Back-Country Ranches in the Wilderness were incredible. I flew into many places, gorgeous, took two day pack train ride, moving horses from one Ranch to Another. The Owl Bar in downtown Salmon, was a local hangout. Salmon, had one stop light. A Health Food Store or two, Book Store, Hardware Store, etc. It was a beautiful location at the juncture of the Salmon River and the Lemhi Rivers. This was where Sacajawea was from. Louis & Clark came through here.

I fled Seattle with my husband and three little girls to Idaho last year. I lived there in my early childhood and my husband’s family were the original settlers in CDA. I am not exaggerating when I tell people I cry a lot because we were in hell and should have left sooner. We are in a small town with limited shopping, nightlife… and love it.

Winters here in Idaho can be brutal. I can feel the cold from outside coming through the wall right now as I sit on my computer. There is a reason Boise doesn't have many homeless. They might hang out for a bit but the ones who don't want to freeze to death usually head to Portland, Seattle, or California.
As far as internet access goes, it's getting better. I live a few miles outside of a very small town (population under 200, yes, two hundred), my closest neighbor is about a quarter mile away, and I have fiber optic internet with the fiber cable coming to a box mounted on my house, with 30 megabit downstream and 30 megabit upstream.

Don’t move here, it sucks! And come get your friends that moved here. They’re to ashamed to admit they made a mistake and won’t ask for help. But they do need you to come get them.

Went thru Boise in '99 on motorcycle. Stopped to get gas and an old guy in a Ford pickup pulled next to me and said "You ain't staying right? Just keep riding to the next state"(Washington plates on my bike). Everything stereo typical about locals not wanting you there. When I told him I was just on my first cross country motorcycle trip he ended up being the nicest guy one could meet. We BS's for about twenty minutes about Boise growth to the Seahawks and motorcycles. Then I was on my way. No doubt little has changed- if you're passing thru you're ok, anything else and the stereo type fits.

I love living in Idaho! I grew up in Pocatello and couldn't wait to move away to somewhere more exciting when my husband finished college. We were gone for 3 years, then I couldn't wait to move back! This time we landed in Caldwell, that's been 18 years ago already! 4 years ago we moved to Payette, which is right on the Oregon border. Every time I cross the Snake River to go into Oregon to the store or something, I can't wait to cross back again! I think people are very friendly, however it is true that we don't want to Californicate our state.

I've lived in Boise for almost 30 years after living in SoCal for 35 years and never once wanted to move back. I've traveled all over the Northwest and love all of it and keep wanting to see more. I can understand the not wanting the cold Winters but with the snowpack and wet Springs you have really green lush landscapes so its a trade off in my book.

After living in LA for 40 years my brother moved to Boise with his 3 cats and cars😹 As much as he liked the entertainment vibe of LA he didn’t care for the uptick of crime and homelessness.

Idaho is awesome in they have almost no gun laws. Open or concealed carry, or even walking down the city street with a full auto rifle is perfectly OK and encouraged.

Your video is spot on but the minimum wage thing isn’t really happening in most of the state, McDonalds and Taco Bell by my home in Meridian (Boise Suburbs) are begging for workers at $13-$15 an hour to start. My girlfriend works in real estate and the bulk of people from out of state (the rush was 2018-2022) buying homes pretty much dried up overnight. Boise Idaho area is great, I retired here in 2008 after 20 years in the Navy, born and raised Californian, shhh…don’t tell. 😊 I have friendly neighbors and coworkers and the outdoor options year round are fantastic.

Dude they’re not wingnuts. The wingnuts are the ones that live in and around Portland and don’t want to move. They’re the wingnuts. And they can stay there..

Gf and I visited Couer d’Alene and Sandpoint this summer and drove away wanting to move there next. Love all of the outdoor opportunities and thought it had the kindest most welcoming groups of people we met on our Northwest road-trip. Seems like an amazing place!

Mr. Briggs. Have you done a video on ten reasons not to move to or ten reasons to leave Oregon? I'm a born and raised Oregonian and I am about ready to leave.
