Icelandair Says The Airbus A321XLR “Can Do More” Than The Boeing 757

Icelandair has a long history of using narrowbodies on long routes; its the core operating model for the airline! Forget about Mexico City, there's no way any A321 (let alone the XLR) can takeoff from that airport elevation with enough fuel to reach Keflavik

They should have gone with the A320NEO over the MAX 8 and 9 to further simplify things. I want to know how they will eventually replace their 767-300ER's, whether it is the 787 or A330NEO they go with.

If the A321-XLR can do more, then why wasn't a freighter version planned yet?? The 757 was already a robust, and capable airplane of both versions.

4, 000 nm on a narrow body? So much for comfort. I did it on a LAX-AKL round trip on a 787, and it was tight to my taste. But I guess after enjoying many years crossing the Pacific and Atlantic on wide bodies, I would have ot get used to, as it is the unfortunate future.
