Big Airbus Order

Airbus has confirmed a sizeable yet significant order for aircraft from Icelandair for its A321XLR. In today's video, I take a look at why the airline decided to announce its intent to order such a plane and how Boeing's decision to not move forward with an NMA of its own really set the tone for the airline's decision to move from Boeing to Airbus for its medium to long-haul needs.

I truly feel that Boeing made a big mistake by not having a replacement for the wonderful 757.

This is massive for Airbus! Icelandair has been a staunch Boeing operator since the 727 from the early 70s. A321 is really the only suitable 757 replacement.
This order sums that up

As fuel keeps getting more expensive, new more efficient aircraft just make more sense.

🎉🎉🎉🎉 A fantastic although obvious order as there’s NO competition for the A321LR/XLR. There’s no competition from Boering in the MAX family and the Dreamliner family are TOO big for the job. It’d be a fantastic opportunity for them to also look at the A330NEO for their fleet. Go Team AIB!! ❤❤❤❤

It would be great to show a table of comparison between the 75 and the A321 versions

Entry into service for them in 2029!!!.😮😮 ... maybe by that time, Pratt will iron out their teething issues on 1000g, and at last get those a320's back in the air by then !!!
Currently 60 alone in India grounded, waiting for replacement parts or engines, with no end in sight...
Ofcourse, going totally unreported !!!

great news! glad too see that we still have a few years of 757s, I havent tracked icelandairs 757 hekla auroura livery on fr24 recently, does anyone know whats going on, is it retired, or just parked or undergoing maintenece i dont know. it appears as if it has not flown in a while.

A321XLR will also replace A330neo.
This is better as Airbus then needs to focus only on A320, A350 families.

Boeing had the chance to re engine the 757 but now they’re too late

By the time they launch the 797, I think it will be a situation similar to airbus with the a380. Came too late to the market

Delta Air Lines is watching all these orders pass them by, sadly when it’s their turn to order, they will have to wait, wait, yes WAIT for their delivery slot 😂

It is a big blow for Boeing as Icelandair though a small airline has been a full Boeing customer for decades

Another miss from Boeing.... Almost 1050 planes B757's were sold and still no replacement plane in the pipeline.... Airbus took his chance with this new "fast and easy" solution for airlines forced to renew their fleets of B757. Boeing is under more and more pressure from Airbus. The A220, the A320/321, NEO and variants, have no real competitors from Boeing. Or how to become the losing challenger from an undisputed Number one. In the single aisle segment In just 10 years..
