Where electrical components are concerned, it is important to have the correct training, residual current devices are no exception! Our expert Steve is here to give you a quick demonstration of how to test a 30mA RCD safely in accordance with BS7671.

All electricians are familiar with the Residual Current Device or RCD. Specified in BS7671 to provide for either fault protection or more commonly ‘additional protection’ the RCD can be found in most modern consumer units or distribution boards. When it comes to testing, it’s important to conduct tests safely and competently, which is why we are here to help!

Nice clear explanation of the RCD testing procedure, but it is a pity you did not put a blank in the board to cover the aperture where a mcb is not fitted to maintain correct IP rating of an energised piece of equipment.
