“Mid range” is extremely stretched now

A few percent faster than the 6800 xt for a $150 discount and lower power draw is a W in my books. Plus it’s not like you could even buy a 6800 xt at $650 for the best part of 3 years. 7800 xt definitely best value gpu this generation

There are no bad cards, just bad pricing. If the 7800xt was priced 600$ it would suck. If the 4070 was priced 450 it would be an incredible card. But amd hit the nail on the head with their 7800xt pricing but ngreedia priced it like usual

Love this card. Can run all my games at ultra settings at 1440p.

“Midrange” kinda crazy this thing gives the same performance as a 3080 (obviously not including shit like ray tracing)

Far above a midrange gpu the 4080 only gets about 15 more fps

A mid range gpu should be 400 dollars or less. This is being very generous seeing how the rx 480 8GB was about 200 bucks and beats the gtx 1060 easy.

Dude just said "Mid Range" for the RX 7800 XT. Pls Ignore anything this guy said. Clearly does not know what he's saying.

i got the sapphire nitro+ 7800xt, and usually the sapphire cards a tad bit better than others, and this thing is a beast at temps, the cooling on this thing is awesome, beautiful design, Runs all games 1440p ultra no problem. I love this card.

Gotta say, hitting 100s on my 3440 x 1440 monitor, impressive card

personally i think amd decided to price the 7800xt at $500 and (basically) make it the same as the 6800xt to say that theyre giving a better card than the 6800xt for only $500 ($450 as of this comment). keep in the mind 6800xt msrp was $650 and it went through the 2021 and 2022 price gouging era

Whats crazy is that, at least in my area, the 7800XT is cheaper or cost just the same as the last gen 6800XT if buying new on any reputable site. Kinda blows my mind that the 6800XT is still that expensive, but performance wise they aren't really that far off either sooo....

Dont forget you get 10-15% more performance when you combo it with an amd cpu especially a 7800x3d or 5800x3d.

u can find 4070 and 7800xt on the same price depends pn the cooler brand. also when it comes to RT tha +100 worth it, also u have dlss, fsr, and u are more supported in creative works, and the most games are more optimalized on nvidia

Fluid motion frames is a game changer for these cards. It's superb. I wasn't a believer in these AI technologies until I used it 😅

Inflation has been higher than normal in the last three years, and that's at least mostly not AMD's fault. The dollar isn't worth as much as it used to be, like it or not.

A lot of people are comparing pricing of the new cards to the current and heavily discounted prices of the previous gen 6000 series, not realizing that those cards are only priced that way so that they can remain competitive with the new generation cards (such as the RTX 4070 which already released a few months ago).

The 6800 XT was 650 USD when it launched in 2020, which is equivalent to about 770 USD today, so the 7800 XT is more than 33% cheaper, with about the same performance, and that's more than a 50% improvement in performance per dollar.

However, it's arguably more appropriate to compare the 7800 XT to the 6700 XT, or to whatever the best value cards of the previous generation were. The 6700 XT launched at 480 USD in early 2021, and that's equivalent to about 540 USD today. The 7800 XT is 43% faster, has 33% more Vram, a lot more memory bandwidth, the quality of the coolers seems to be better on most models, and there are also some additional benefits of the new architecture, and for a LOWER price if you adjust for inflation. However, the 6700 XT was probably originally planned to launch at a lower price than that, likely very close to 430, which is equivalent to about 485 USD today.

500 USD today is equivalent to about 420 USD in 2019, when the 5700 XT first launched at 400 USD, and was widely praised as offering very good value at the time. The 7800 XT is about 90% faster, and has double the Vram.

Progress in value is definitely still happening. The rate of progress is definitely slowing, and we should definitely be as critical as possible toward these companies, their products, and their pricing, but, if you want to make an argument that the price of a product is too high, you have to use accurate information and sound arguments.

It also sucks that average incomes haven't kept pace with inflation, and I think we can give some portion of blame to AMD for their role in that, but it's primarily not their fault, not unless Lisa Su is even more of a mad genius than we already know she is, and she's somehow secretly controlling the global economy XD XD XD
