The Philippines is a founding member of the United Nations. It pays its debts on time and has a good credit rating. It has almost $100 Billion in it's Central Bank and is building it's infrastructure as it's population is now 113 million people. It has followed international laws dutifully and sends peacekeepers whenever the United Nations asks for them. The 169 member Nations that signed/ratified the UNCLOS need to pressure the entire United Nations to tell China to wake up from it's delusional claims of ownership to over 90% of the South China Sea. If the UN cannot reign in this sitting member of the Security Council that has broken all the laws of the sea, then what is the point of having a United Nations?

Fix your title DW. We are not defending our "claims" we are defending our inherent territory. If another country claims Berlin, would your title be "how would Germany defend its claim on Berlin"?

do the chinese understand the word provocation? they are clearly the aggressor, phillippines only enduring all of those ramming and water cannon.

Philippines must continue to expose China of its gray zone tactics and ramp up efforts to rally with like-minded nations to uphold international law and respect for neighbours!

Philippines has no other choice but to defend its territory. With the way PH govt is supporting the PH Navy and CG now, it is serious and that it is wiling to go as far as it needs to...the good thing is PH allies are also helping and supporting PH to be able to do that.

Poor misunderstood China only wants peace! A piece of the Philippines, a piece of Vietnam, a piece of South Korea, etc. etc. 😂

As a Filipino I can see the determination of our leader and our people, we can't be a weaken just because of china.
With out neighbors like Vietnam we can stand together with Taiwan, Japan and other allies.

Why not focus on helping Philippines instead than Vietnam?
We can't guarantee their sincerity to help with weak foreign policies..

fun fact, the south sea 11 dash line was drawn by the kmt/roc, plus nobody opposed it at 1948 when it was passed. the prc reduced the 11 dased line to a 9/10 dash line. neighboring countries didn't have a puss with it until oil was discovered.
