Great tips and cautions. I just got a slow cooker for Christmas so now I feel better prepared when I go to use it the first time. Thanks.

I reheat the food stored in the slow cooker from the fridge all the time. Have never gotten sick nor anyone else.

Good tips. I knew most of them, but the paper towel tip was new. It explains some slow cooker fails I have experience.

I don't know about that paper towel trick.
Remember a slow cooker is still is generating heat on the inner pot
Also the water condensation will weigh down the paper not to mention the steam is definitely going to weaken the paper integrity and I don't want paper being an extra ingredients for my food.😄

Don't forget to sear the meat before cooking it.

I don't mind using the extra broth as soup for the next few days after a slow cooked corned beef, it's delicious

I always make the mistake of using too much broth in my chicken or steak cubes. It's still pretty good, but the meat is so tender it falls off the bone or it breaks up easily but my family loves it that way so idk if that's a total loss lol😂🤷🏾‍♀️

My slow cooker has a sautee function I use for reheating. When it's winter here I just leave the food in the crock pot.

Using less liquid can result in an overcook. I just learned this the hard way with bbq in a new crock pot. I can't stand the new ones. The manufacturer raised the temperatures dramatically. Cook on high? You can barely cook on low without burning bbq sauce. Old ones you could leave in there overnight. New ones bring liquid to a rolling boil within 3 hours on low. As for "less" liquid recommendation, just make sure it's more than half full capacity to slow the cook (on a new crock pot). It sucks. I'm literally going to trade a brand new one for a used one bc the manufacturers have created a product that can't perform it's intended task of slow cooking.

Di not use paper towel to absorb cooker condensation .. Use a dish towel.. No wasted paper... wash and reuse the dish towel over and over.

If you think you’ve not put enough liquid in, you’ve probably put too much in already.

sorry but if your bothered by the water dripping from under the lid when you cook don't bother using one and just use your oven.
