On a brighter note, every recession comes with an equal chance in the fin-mrkt if you're early informed and equipped, I've read folks amass up to 7 figures  during these times, and even pull it off easily in a favorable economy. Truthfully, I’d need guide please for a boomer like me to attain such amount for retirement, we definitely need to benefit from this situation somehow.

Recessions are where millionaires are created. I feel for the older generation, but if you are young or middle age, you should do everything possible to double and triple your invest_ments because recession is here.

I agree with what Dave said but people aren’t freaking out about their 401k’s, they’re freaking out over the possibility of losing their jobs.

Listening to Dave's optimism is like watching a chef cooking show while sitting at home eating Mac and Cheese out of the box

A recession is when my neighbor loses his job, a depression is when I lose my job.

Dave is a great personal finance advisor and motivator, but he’s not an economist and clips like this really highlight that.

The middle and lower class aren’t worried about what happens to their mutual funds, they’re worried about keeping their jobs.

I think saying that people who work retail are getting paid for doing nothing is a bit harsh. I remember working way harder in retail than we do in the engineering office I work in now.

Remember everyone: Dave Ramsey is a fantastic personal finance adviser, but he’s a terrible economist.

As Americans pull back on purchasing, companies will miss sales targets and eventually lead to layoffs. That’s the next shoe to drop.

I wonder if anyone in 1980 would have laughed at and brushed off the concept of K-Mart or Sears going bankrupt. 🤷

The beautiful thing about having no debt but a mortgage and having enough savings for a year is that if I loose my job i will still be able to sleep like a bby at night. That feels 100 times better than driving new cars or the rzr I was planning on buying .

Dave is so detached from middle class reality. The average middle class person getting paid less than his butler is getting really hurt right now. He’s the top one percent exemplified

Dave will be like “eat beans and rice”

Interesting when he asks “do you really think Home Depot, McDonald’s, etc are going away”. Then he talks about K-Mart, which has indeed gone away. So, yes, Dave. These companies can and some likely will go away.

Man if restocking our grocery shelves is “doing nothing” then people like you wouldn’t have had ANYTHING. Humble yourself Dave.

What is scary is everything is up in cost. I have decades before I am retired so I am not worried there. What I am worried about is the cost of living. Its more to do anything. Dave will say deliver pizzas. Well with gas nearing $6, pizzas costing more, and less people tipping. It does not make sense to do that anymore. Its going to get really ruff. Dave is really a multi millionaire who never has to work another day in his life and he will be fine. When this does not have the same effect on him

I was a big Dave fan while we were heading into the Great Recession. He fiercely downplayed that one too. And we all know how that turned out.
I pray he’s right. But the common sense that God and granny gave me say he’s not.

Always interesting to hear multi-millionaires make light of difficult economic times.

I don’t think he’s talking to 90% of Americans who have zero savings and worry about food, gas, and keeping their job. He’s talking to people who have 800k in savings and have the option to invest.

It’s a 20 or 30 year ride is true if you’re in your 30’s but not if you’re in your 60’s or 70’s. It’s catastrophic when you see your savings start to disappear.
