The amount of times Jack said, "new oldest map" and had already forgotten about the previous one is so funny to me

Jack at the 1504 map: 1504, oldest thing in the vid
The 1420 map: Didn’t you just look at me? Why am I still here, just to suffer-
Jack at the 1422 map: I think we have a new oldest thing
The 1420 map: 👁👄👁

1:50 It's also, well... not in English. It's in Greek.

I think Italy and the Mediterranean are so accurate because, well, the Roman Empire guess is probably not wrong, but I also think it's because, throughout the Middle Ages, Italy was a big commercial hub, with a good number of merchant republics (including the very serene Venice). Since they would sail around the Mediterranean, they would have a special need for accurate maps. Maybe it's also the fact people have navigated the Mediterranean for a long time, even before the Romans.

Jack saying, "ENHANCE, ENHANCE, " made the video 10x better. Great video, though! 🤣

So the Free City of Danzig was a semi-autonomous state consisting of Danzig (now Gdańsk) and 200 towns/villages surrounding it that was created as a part of the Treaty of Versailles and protected by the League of Nations. Poland gained access to the port, the railways, communication and had a customs union with them so it was created so Poland could have a sizable seaport. Danzig was majority German at the time, but the Poles had a party as well so it was meant to be neutral ground. But by 1936, its government was majority Nazi so protests for a return to Germany ramped up. So when Germany did invade Poland in 1939, they abolished the Free City and it was absorbed into the Reichsgau of Danzig-West Prussia. The Polish and Jewish citizens of Danzig were sentenced to forced labor and extermination

I thought Jack’s geography knowledge couldn’t get any worse, then he called Germany Austria Hungary. Yes I know it’s the old pre WW1 boarders, but it’s still recognisable as Germany!

Hey Jack, I found this game called "Explordle" basically it is a quick video clip of someone walking through a certain city and you have to pick between mutliple options and guess which city it is based on the information givin in the video. I think its pretty cool and you should try it.

I've noticed that the old cartographers were always interested by out of reach areas, even in Europe, like Ireland, Scotland and Iceland. Then obviously Asia and Americas once they started understanding them more.
