The captions in this video have been updated to reflect my most recent experiences. If you’re reading this, please go report the USA Mom in Germany account on Facebook with 7k followers- I don’t have a Facebook account and their posts are very bizarre 💚

When as a German I think that the system in Germany is broken, I guess in the USA it is HORRIBLY broken.

The fact that Americans think you have to thrash, shruggle, and claw your way up just to get a semi good living is truly terrifying. Like they really believe that you have to earn having a good life. I told my grandparents how I want everyone to have universal healthcare, higher education, housing. So that nobody has to have a bad life. And they look at me dead in the face and say " But wont you feel cheated knowing that they got a good living out of doing not as much as me." It takes everything in me to bite my tongue and not say "No, because I have basic human compassion".

Consider telling people about Eltern-Kind-Kur. I think it's a marvelous thing that needs to be implemented in other countries. It's all about prevention before problems overwhelm you. It's half spa holiday, half medical intervention and tries to help parents.

it's inspiring to see americans finding out about the developed world. True freedom, welfare and human focussed culture rather than a corporate driven oligarchic hellscape.

The sad thing is, I just know how people would argue against this, and it's because we have been taught this stuff is frivolous, rather than necessary and valuable to everyone. It would be about public cost and subsidising "other people's lifestyles" - people don't realise how brainwashed they have been by a govt telling them they have money for a prison/military industrial complex but not for basic social measures. It has made them mean and short-sighted.

They would call all the social policies and support that fearsome word in the US: "communism" 😢

Thank you for educating us a to health care programs in Germany. I realize the USA needs guidance and help but your information is important. We can do better

I love this, visiting and possibly living in another country has been a dream of mine. It’s a dream of my partner’s as well, Germany has been mentioned a few times. I think it might be where we end up! Love your videos

I really appreciate you talking about mental health (including your own!) so freely. Self-care is so important and should be available to everyone, regardless of income!

Wow, that was so insightful. Your right, we look for quick little fixes to make it easier to get through the week. Imagine just taking care of yourself as the normal

So true in Austria 🇦🇹 as well. I’m studying software development and only work part time and my wife is a kinder garden assistant and we already planned our vacation to Italy, we have coffee and cake together once a week, we just came back on a short holiday to Salzburg, she went on a short holiday to Bratislava with colleagues, and none of it has hurt us one bit financially.
This was all achieved by the mandatory summer bonus for all, 5 week vacation she’s entitled to (I’m only part time so that’s easy for me) and we just get paid enough, it’s enough to do all that. Self care, long breaks and financial stability is very important in Austria and the government protects it. Businesses who don’t observe it would pay a very high price for it.

I think what most people don't know or do lot incorporate in their everyday life is, that sekf care is not about taking 5mins or a weekend off with a spa treatment but lead a way of life that you don't have to recover from on a regular basis.

Of course then everyone in America has to chime in with their two cents on how if you cut out those emergency treats like 3-4$ coffee or a 2-5$ target face mask you could be absolutely miserable but with a little more spending money for that hospital bill your insurance didnt cover bc you were out of network 😂

You are right. I just realized how much I do to just keep going. It isn't about thriving. It's about being able to keep going so I don't wind up homeless or bankrupt.

Gotta say, getting through the day in the USA would be a lot easier without having to dodge 2-ton metal death machines just to get myself from place to place 😑

I love it for you that you got a therapist appointment in Germany. You have to teach us your ways cause you seem to be getting all the appointment super fast and access to things nobody else does. How exactly do you jump the years long waiting lists?

Im in germany and from a poor backround, this took me some time to learn as well. I am financially stable but it still took the thought of "getting a thai massage for my back will be good for work" but now i let myself enjoy the massage ❤
