This video covers the humble origins of the legion that will later be named "the most effective" by Emperor Nero. The 14th Legion will gain a series of titles along the way, and will soon become known as "Legio XIIII Martia Gemina Victrix"; Mars' victorious twinned 14th Legion. Mars, being the Roman God of war. The 14th Legion is also one of the longest surviving Legions of Rome, loyally serving the empire for over four hundred years.

The Historia Channels and the art of using small rectangles to recreate historic maneuvering bring me no small amount of joy.

We should all thank the historia civillis for his work representing roman legions as rectangles and spreading roman history to us who did know nothing about how great and rich it is.
Also i love how this/your channel is going and growing. Your determination and work to tell the story behind every legend is fantastic. You are doing a great work here. Good luck.

There should be a TV show for that legion. 400 years can't be covered in a movie. They could literally do a season for every 25 years or major campaign or even battle they were involved in.

I really appreciate that yous use total war assets to tell the narrative. There is really no better thing to use and yous make a good call to use them. And every scene whether map view or battle view is very engaging with the story telling. This is starting to become one of my favorite channels keep up the good work guys!❤

I knew that one of Caesar legions was destroyed in Gaul. But I never make the conection that it was the SAME LEGION that crushed Boudica.

Amazing how they change their fate.

Great video. One can really imagine the terror the newly reraised 14th legion must have felt walking into that camp finding the corpses of their predecessors who had committed suicide.

Keep up the good work! I was wondering if you consider investigating notable centurions or warriors that stood out in the legions such as major feats, accomplishments or reputation (positive or negative)
