Tony White Leaves Nebraska To Become Florida State Defensive Coordinator. It's too bad. He's been a pretty decent DC for Nebraska, and I hate to see him leave.
However, this is a good business decision for him.

At this point, strangely enough, I just don't give a fuck anymore. Something is seriously fucked up with this football program as a whole, but I just don't have a peak behind the scenes to know what. What started out with so much hope two years ago is now crashing faster than any head coaching tenure since Osborne retired. As you say Jon, there is no fuckin' hope. GBR

His gimmicky defense wasn't effective against better teams anyways. No huge loss.

He could have done the same thing at Nebraska. Fix the disaster. Rhule pissed him off bringing in Snow to look over his shoulder. This is the beginning of the end for Rhule.

Mediocre University hires Mediocre Head Coach that hires Mediocre Asst Coaches who recruit Mediocre Players and you end up with Mediocre Results.

Welcome to Nebraska Football - AND the vast majority of other football programs ...

Nebraska fired Solich and Bo - both 9+ game winners. Think about it ...

Tony White leaving is not a shock. I honestly expected it. What I am shocked about is, he is not leaving as a Head Coach but making a Lateral move.

Rhule wants a four man front and White wants to coach his defense.

Heard on another show he might have been upset when Rhule brought in Snow his former DC as a consultant.

You have to have a lot of NIL money to get top notch players to come to Lincoln and that's a fact. Get Warren Buffet and Terrence Crawford to open up their pocketbooks.

Spot on Jon, plus the amount of production that leaves next year. He saw the writing on the wall, get out while the getting is good! Best of Luck to Tony!

Bobby Bowden and Tom Osborne were great friends . Sorry for your loss of White but I was not aware Knighton was coming also. Best of luck to you guys.

Terrance Knighton is going with Tony White, so there goes the defensive recruits.

We need a DC that's a 4-3 or a 4-2-5. White is not a huge loss.

I absolutely agree, Jon. I said the same thing to Amie Just. I just figure he would be able to give a dramatic improvement to their defense in his first season as DC. Here, it would only be an incremental improvement and people would complain.

I have two thoughts at all of this: One - Shit, I'm just tired of what college football has become. It is total chaos, everywhere not just here, and I just don't know if I'm having fun following it anymore, let alone watching it.
Two - I can't wait to see what happens. If it can happen at Indiana, I don't see why it can't happen at Nebraska. I don't know if Matt Rhule gets us there, but I'm not ready to give up on him. My thoughts on our HC hang entirely on how the coaching shake-up pans out and who comes to fill those spots. I was never 100% for the 3-3-5 shenanigans, and I'm really not sad to see that go. White's defense should have been better given the personnel we had in there. People act like his departure means there is nothing better out there, and I'm saying I liked coach White but I believe we can do better. Rhule 100% knew this was all coming, and the storm is far from past us. But I also know programs like Ohio State and Georgia are going to have to cut their roster back just like Nebraska, and that means this year there will be a buffet of talent out there like nothing we've ever seen.
It's going to be absolutely mind-boggling.
And that brings me right back to point #1. Do I want to even ride this rollercoaster again?

Oh, and I shat on the idea that Dylan Raiola would come to Nebraska in the first place, and he proved me wrong. I think some of you, like I did, underestimate what the school means to the kid. I think he stays at least one more year. It's Danny who is likely to split, and I'll hate to see how good that kid is only when he's playing somewhere else.

Tony White is my favorite coach. I'm happy for him. Was hoping he'd become head coach after the Rhule resignation.

I think you have hit the nail on the head.

He got our defense to top 25 for 2 straight years and probably thinks with some key pieces leaving defense won't be as good next year so he goes to 2-10 FSU that has talent and "turns them around" for 2 years then gets a HC job somewhere
