I have to disagree with the premise of the video. First of all the beuty standards today are in no way for people to be as thin as possible. Mabe in the 90s and early 2000s but today the standard for optimal in men i would say is between 14-20% bodyfat and for women is 25-30. People no longer worship anorexic models like they used to. We are past the stage of aspiring to be borderline anorexic to be seen as "beautiful". In general in the vast majority of western countries people are in general to fat and unhealthy. In america the average person has a bmi of almost 30, sure bmi dosent tell you the whole picture, but the average person should be within a normal bmi range of 19-25 for optimal health even if there are a few outliers like athletes who have a lot of muscle... BMI dosent tell the whole picture, but in general its a great measurment for most people, most people can be bothered to go into the nitty gritty details so a simple number like bmi is whats needed to influence most people, i really cant see you argue away that one. Of course you can be super strong and not look "built" i mean most heavy men will be strong compared to a smaller man. But with that strenght and muscle comes a ton of fat aswell, viceral fat especially can be hard on the body over time and its often the fat thats the hardest to loose. I would strongly argue that most people are a lot more unhealthy then they think. Me and a couple of mates recently did a "biological age test" and most of us including myself scored a way higher biological age then what we actually are in real life. And we are all pretty active people that look fairly fit. I for example got a 30 year bio age and im only 25 myself. Guess who of my mates got the lowest bio age? The guy who runs 4 days a week and works out the hardest. He scored well in both the dexa scan and in the blood tests we took. Guess who scored the worst? Our mate who dosent really work out and has a bmi of 27. He had horrible ldl scores and was diagnosed as pre diabetic at the age of 26...
