What These New Disney Princesses Should Have Looked Like If They Were Historically Accurate

Disney Princess fashion is the best, but did you know that it isn’t actually all that historically accurate? When you take a look at Disney vs source material, you realize the intricacies and subtleties that should have been included in the Princess outfits. So we’re creating a few fashion fixes for some of our favorite ladies, with our animations of how they should have looked. Compare their looks side-by-side as we present before and after versions of their original style and their historically accurate reimagining. We’re going to Norway, Polynesia, New Orleans and Germany to get these outfits geographically right, too!

Find out why Princess Rapunzel needs to ditch her trademark vibrant purple, and why she needs to embrace the “hedgehog” hairstyle — yes, really. Discover what Princess Moana would have really worn — and what her ink would have looked like, too. Take a look at how Princess Tiana looks when she embraces the Jazz Age fashion — “Great Gatsby”, eat your heart out. And as for Queen Elsa and Queen Anna, these ladies get a right royal Regency makeover. We’d love to know what you think of these Disney makeovers, so please sound off in the comments section below. Tell us if you prefer these Disney Princesses in their original outfits, or if you’re all about their new styling. Well to be fair, Anna got her outfit from a Swedish guy and are ice powers traditional for that time?

tiana's historical outfit looks kind of like that outfit she wore that had that white fluffy thing around her neck and that one song when she was with that one dude. Am I the only one who sees this?

I think that even if Rapunzel's dress is not accurate, it is suitable for her story. She was locked in a tower and didn't go outside at all. I suppose she didn't know about the fashion trends at the time and wasn't up to date

All of the changes made in Elsa's dress just make it look like the one she wore at her coronation. The whole point of that dress was to show how she was letting go of the good princess look.

Elsa's historically accurate dress was so similar to first Elsa's dress (Evil Elsa the first Design of creators)

To be fair Elsa was sorta in her own place with that plait so like it's more comfy than a huge updo

The should have been design dress for Elsa, almost looks exactly like that with her new blue dress from Frozen 2.

Except Elsa did not have those big striped things on her shoulders.

If I can remember from the beginning of the first Frozen, when Anna and Elsa's parents left to go on their sailing voyage. To find the quest about Elsa's ice powers, I remembered when the parents said to Elsa that they would be back. Which turned out to be a unsuspecting goodbye for Elsa, if I can remember I think from that part her hair was short. And I think from there she might have had a ponytail bun behind her head.

And then Elsa her hair was completely short during the coronation, and then later when she runs away from the castle. She changes her hair with that signature single braid ponytail.

She did that because, if you remember hearing the song Let It Go. Some of the lyrics are trying to explain that she'll never go back to Arendelle again, she'll stay away from everybody. And that she'll do whatever she wants to be free, including making a single braid ponytail hairstyle. And without that she would not be the Ice Queen.

I even thought her single braid ponytail hairstyle reminded me of a icicle in a way, because without that hairstyle she wouldn't be the Ice Queen without that hairstyle. And to remind other people that she is magical at the same time.

Even if Elsa were to be a villain originally, she would probably make that single braids ponytail hairstyle to herself. Because if she was an evil woman, that hairstyle would still appeal to her original villain character

Maybe this has nothing to do with the video, but I love how the Princesses are animated and how their outfits change, seriously 😂

1. Mother Gothel, was like an outlaw, how rich do you think she is? I don't think she would have cared enough to get her dresses like that
2. Elsa's whole transformation thing is about being free and stuff, she probably has the silhouette of the dress you made but, remember it is made from her power, not fabric.
3. I really enjoyed Anna, Tiana and Moana's transformation

Moana is my favorite.
Anana's historically accuride look is in my opinion the best of them all.
