Disney Princesses Reimagined In Real Life.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We all love the Disney princesses. How could you not? We watched their films so many times, that their images are practically ingrained in our brains. But what if the way they are animated in the Disney films isn’t how they actually should have looked? This is How Disney Princesses Should Have Really Looked.

Jasmine is one of the prettiest Disney princesses around. But her outfit was extremely inaccurate. For a girl who lived in an Arabic speaking country in such a conservative time, her outfit would have been completely different. She would not have been showing her tummy at all like she did in the film. Her head probably also would have been covered so we would have never seen her long, black hair.

Whether it’s Ariel, Cinderella, Rapunzel, or Mulan, there are a lot of inconsistencies with these princesses’ looks. Stay tuned to This is How Disney Princesses Should Have Really Looked to see why Snow White’s hair should have been totally different!

Rapunzel was trapped in a tower. Her clothing was probably something her mother bought in the market so it wouldn’t have been very royal looking.

actually, ariel is danish. last time i checked, georgia is not in denmark.
and, aurora is french, not british.
mulan did NOT marry royalty. she was a warrior and fought for china.
some of the princesses that were mentioned were pretty poor as well, so there would be no way in hell they'd be able to afford such fancy dresses.
how much do you guys fact check these videos?

Video: were you surprised by some of the outfits
Me: yes I was surprised at how LITTLE research you did on this

She says there are errors in the Disney movies yet there are so many errors in this video! LOL! Also in Disney's Mulan....Shang wasn't royalty, he took on the role of the Army's Captain because he was assigned to it by General Li; who was Shangs father. He was an army man, not a royal.

Repunzel lives locked in a tower... she likely would not have been able to do her hair in the fashion of her times

But Belle never cared for cultural norms and never placed petty appearances over heart (she denied Gaston)
she was seen as an outcast. Just check out her opening song "little town".

"The movie feels like it's entirely set in its own fantasy world"
That makes sense. Actually, I think that's the point

Wrong about Ariel. It was Hans Christian Andersen who wrote the story of the little mermaid, and the story happened in Denmark. Why do you think that we raised a monument of her in Copenhagen, in memory of the author and the sad story of the lovesick young mermaid?

Yikes yall really need to put more research and accuracy into these videos...
Ariel is Danish, Aurora is French, Mulan did not marry into royalty, etc. etc.
You also keep forgetting that many of these princesses were poor, or away from society, therefore wouldn't be dressing in royal/wealthy fashion...

Totally agree with the Pocahontas one. Disney should defiantly animate it more accurately and cover Pocahontas’s top with just beads for a KIDS MOVIE

There are a few things in this that are missing some points.
Firstly Aroura was French and the dress she wore was made by the Fairies who were looking after her and they were living like peasants to hide her royalty for 16 years plus they decided to make the dress on her birthday so they didn't have time to make it all fancy and royalty like the Queen (her mother in the film).
Next Ariel, her wedding dress in the film does have the mutton sleeves!
Then you are comparing Tiana's swamp wedding dress to a casual dress of the 20s. The dress you should have compared is the dress she wore at the end of the film. Then again she is a princess by then.
Next, Snow White was made a slave to the Queen who didn't want to make her look any beautiful than her so she would have given her basic clothes at the time or something to make her less royal than the Queen.
With Cinderella, you should have compared Claire's image to the original design of Cinderella, not the evolved version which made every past Disney princess have so many sparkles on their dresses.
And finally with Rapunzel, again like Aroura grew up like a peasant so of course, her dress won't be as fancy as the high class or royalty she is.
I know it much but let's not forget that most of the Disney princess before 2000s were hand-drawn, imagine how hard it would be for the artists to draw frame by frame a dress with so much detail to match the era they were in, especially the classic princesses who drawn traditional, not digital.
One more note, Mulan did not become a princess in the film. She becomes a princess due to Disney adding a new requirement of performing an act of heroism.

WTF rapunzel was locked in a hidden tower somewhere in a forest. How tf was she supposed to know what women in her generation were wearing?

Rapunzel gets locked in a tower for 18 years with no contact to the outside world and most likely made the dress herself so naturally it’s obviously her fault for not knowing how to dress historically duh...

“She did ended up marrying into royalty, didn’t she?”

No. Obviously not.

Tiana’s dress was made from god damn magic, of course its not historically accurate.

Why all the dresses were over simplified in contrast with their historical counterparts?
For the same reason Mickey Mouse and his friends are drawn with 4 fingers: *It saved up a lot of time and work for the animators.*
Imagine yourself having to draw all those dresses in full detail, frame by frame, with a tight schedule back in the day. Same goes for 3D CGI graphics, helps avoid time constraints and clipping issues.

The phrase "less is more" fully applies here for that reason.

Mulan did not marry a prince so she is not royalty. She married Lee Shang a general of the army.

There is a LOT of innacuracies in this video. Many very obvious ones. Although what really put the cherry on top for me is when they used a Victorian image while describing the kind of fashion the era beauty and the best is set in would use. If real research had been done, this video wouldn't have been so abysmally misinformed to the point of making such a poor mistake. Not to mention, no offense to the artists but a lot of the 'realistic outfits' still where not realistic in the slightest. A good portion of them did not take the character's actual social ranking or personality into account either for example. Like again, Belle. She's not royalty, and not extremely well off. She's not poor nor middle class, a little bit higher I would say, but definitely not wealthy. Only the wealthy could afford the fashionable trends with powdered wigs and pastel colored gowns (wich was very popular in France mostly. Honestly the live action movie did a WAY better job at being a bit more historically accurate than this video). It's all just, horribly wrong and misinformed.
