This is a new Series of videos covering the most common Serious Faults in the Driving Test. Each Fault is explained in detail. Use this video to prepare for your Driving Test so you are aware of common Serious Faults.
00:00 Mirrors & Steering When Turning (Double Fault)
At this left turn Esme makes 2 serious driving faults. When moving into the left lane for the turn, she doesn’t check any mirrors. And then as she is approaching the turning, she starts drifting towards the right and there is a lorry overtaking which we got very close to.
00:41 Reverse Bay Parking Observations (Blind Spot Check)
So here is Michaels one and only serious fault which cost him a pass.
He starts off with good all round observations before reversing and continues with good checks out of the back.
BUT…when steering to the left, into the bay he doesn’t check the right blind spot which is over the right shoulder.
01:56 Roundabout: Gear and Stalling
At this roundabout Jenny selects 3rd gear instead of 1st which means she’s going to stall. As she stalled, our car positioned onto the roundabout disrupting the path of vehicles on the roundabout.
02:49 T-Junction: Positioning/Observation - Slow Build up after turn
03:30 Following Sat Nav: Normal Driving Position
Now the satnav instructs to keep right but our turn is quite a distance away. Chloe positions in the right hand lane way too early and continues to drive in it.
04:17 Stalling and Positioning - Blocked Crossing
When stopping behind this vehicle, Chloe stops on the crossing and when it’s time to move off as the lights change, she rushes off the clutch so stalls. So we end up waiting on the crossing.
04:51 Sharp Right Turn: Positioning & Hesitation
This right turn is on a sharp bend. Instead of following the bend round to get a better view of the oncoming vehicles, Dipen steers to the right at bit early and stops to give way to the vehicle that’s approaching from the right. We had priority over that vehicle and should’ve only waited for the oncoming vehicles.
Remember on your test, always be considerate towards other road users but when you have priority and it’s safe….always continue.
05:47 Stop Signs - Letting the car edge forward
Here we have a stop sign so he must fully stop at the line.
Samson continues to edge forward and progresses. When talk about this during the feedback at the end, he admits that he didn’t notice the stop sign.
06:32 Signal - Signalling too early
07:18 Stalling - Not putting Clutch down and causing car to come to an abrupt Stop
On the approach to this junction, he doesn’t put the clutch down and stops quite sharply and too early. There is a lorry close behind. He then takes a while to move and emerge out.
07:46 Car Park Observations - Not Yielding and checking for other cars
We can see the giveway markings so must check for any vehicles approaching before we enter the car park. Esme doesn’t look….luckily there was no one approaching from the right.
