The Kia Niro has been updated for the second generation here in 2023. There are three different electrified powertrains including a hybrid, a plug-in hybrid, and a full EV. Tons of space, a bold design, and updated tech. Is this subcompact crossover (aka lifted hatchback) one that should be on your radar?

Let me know your thoughts on the touch bar, gloss black in general, and what you think about plug-in hybrids. And let me know if you'd option the aeroblade!

Lots of good info I didn't find in other videos. Thanks.

Standard outlet takes about 6 hours. It easily charges overnight. I’ve had an ex trim PHEV and I really like it. I wish the gloss black by the shifter wasn’t there, the gloss in the door doesn’t really get touched often.

Nice review! Really appreciate the honesty about certain aspects, particularly the interior (looking at you, piano black). I was curious to get your thoughts on heating the PHEV. I live in MA and appear to experience a similar cold-weather climate to you. As you have the cold weather package, does the PTC allow the PHEV's battery to heat the cabin sufficiently? When that can't cut it, I'm assuming it forces the ICE on? And what's the pre-heating experience like, if there is any? If it's plugged in, can the PTC heat it up without needing to power on the car?

Sorry for all the questions! It's rare to find a down-to-earth review of this car that fits so closely with my use-case (cold weather and a 2 year old passenger.) Thanks!

I like dig the aeroblade. The gloss black interior is a crime though. I'm not against glossy plastics for the interior, black is just the worst possible color for it since it shows so many scratches and fingerprints. Fiat used glossy plastics in their 500's interiors but they used white and sometimes red and i think they look great today still.
