Older HongKongers also testify to the same statement of that Burmese man.

John Anderson is a wiseman & speaks the truth. I grew up in England during the 1960's & 70's, I had the opportunity to live & work in many countries throughout the world, have experienced Good & Bad, I always felt safe in Britain during my childhood, but upon returning to my home country Britain, I see our country has become unsafe with draconian rules, it's now unsafe with potential violence unfolding on the streets, our country has fallen to the enemy. Britain is being controlled by a self-serving corrupt Government & individuals who hate the country & it's people, I now feel unsafe in my own country. Man's ignorance & greed is his own worst enemy. I am prepared to make a stand & rid our country from the enemy within. God help us all. 😮

Colonialism is often talked about from a tribal perspective. You can showcase all the economic development, stability, and increased life expectancy, but because the British etc. were a different tribe, it felt humiliating to the locals.

You are absolutely right that everything has its good and bad points. In other words, there were good points to Japanese colonialism, although in the Allied countries, only the bad points are touted. Specifically, Japan invested heavily in the Korean peninsula, building social infrastructure, establishing numerous elementary schools and raising the literacy rate. Japan also invested aggressively in Taiwan, and even today, Taiwanese people's feelings toward Japan are relatively good. Even in northern China, which Japan invaded, there are people who say that their standard of living has improved thanks to Japanese rule.
It is clear that the above does not cancel out the barbaric acts of the Japanese military in other areas, but the reverse is also true. History needs to be viewed with a sense of balance.

Wow, my grandfather said something eerily similar about that short period of time just after the war ended. He felt vindicated and proud that he fought for something and that his brother had not died in vein. He would of course be turning in his grave if he could see the calamitous mess that exists today.

I remember a conversation I had when I was a boy at school: "I'm gonna tell my dad and he'll come here." "I'll call my dad." "Yeah, well my dad's bigger than your dad." "Yeah? Well my dad can pick up a whole tonne" "Mine can pick up 2 tonnes." etc.
By the time the bragging was over we'd forgotten why we were arguing.
My civilization beat the Nazis and the Fascists and the Imperialists in World War 2 - Yeah, well mine beat yours in Vietnam- Mine invented nuclear bombs- So what, mine invented gain-of-function viruses.

Love is the only way forward.
Only Love and learn to love better.

The British empire was a force for good 🇬🇧

True honest intellectuals would have conversations that deal with cultural frameworks that provide the greatest amount of human flourishing.
Those cultures have a couple things in common with them and it's generally from the west classically and christiandome because that is the only worldview that provides the greatest amount of freedoms for human prosperity if we honestly analyze the epochs of time.
We are currently regressing back to a pre-20th century ideological standard across the world where ethnocentrisism and tribalism are on the rise and the left and it's secular ideology is a religion that is trying to vie for power by destabilizing the West alienating Christianity in order to control the mass population.
History is being rewritten right before our very eyes and very soon the men and women that tell the tales of true liberty will be but a pipe dream in the next decade or so if we're lucky.

Many are making a massive mistake in the point scoring arena. You really want to settle scores? Diminsh a country because of a small part of its history? Get reveenge? Point score??
All I'll say is that all you people who want revenge, reparations, justice and even apologies for historical altercations, get your DNA tested. You may be violently suprised at what your own ancesors got up to and of courrse you'll bee the first to aologise, to pay up, won't you. Won't youu???
I've done my DNA, Iknow my ancestry, I know my family history. But, all many see is a white man with blue eyes.

When the children grow up they understand how and why the empire grew ( and it wasn't force)

People say that empire was bad which on cases it was but without it there would be whole countries in Africa, south America and Asia which would never been as big or powerful as they are now I’m not saying that empire or imperialism should come back but we good do something like CANZUK.

Same story from a Ugandan, said with the proviso I never heard him say it.

It's just about pride for their own country that they reject it. But if they put it aside, countries under British rule had economic growth and prosperity and stability

Anecdotal evidence that British colonialism has an innate freedom attached to it, whereas other regimes have an oppression that many refuse to see it acknowledge.
We are the same here in Australia

Aboriginals here in Australia are similar to that one year.
Before British colonialism, there was a barbaric oppression of an ancient civilisation.
Now they have many freedoms and blessings for which they are mostly ungrateful.
The Voice will see a movement back toward a self oppression as they move away from a Western civilised democracy.

Is there a good case for colonization of Jamaica, Barbados, Ghana and South Africa.
My friends in Africa really want to see that video.
