People forget or don’t know that Europe already started developing differently and faster than all countries in the 1500s-1700s outside of Europe. Europe had already laid the foundation for the Industrial Revolution before colonization because it had discovered and invented more than the entire world combined before the colonization even started. That was also the reason why colonization worked for the Europeans in the first place, for other countries, it wouldn't have been possible or at least not so easy to conquer the lands thousands of kilometers away. This is why the Ottomans, regardless of colonization, would never have managed to conquer Europe or change history, especially considering that the Ottomans could only take on moderately strong alliances at their peak and already failed there.

In the end, Europe would probably have simply expanded eastward once even the weakest countries in Eastern Europe became stronger. Another scenario would be that Europe kept advancing and completely left the rest of the world behind, and sooner or later, Europe would have become a single country that could have conquered entire continents.


You should also consider that China, India, Japan, etc., were far too slow to have started the Industrial Revolution before a natural disaster would have set them back again. And in the scenario where another country had started colonization, it wouldn’t have achieved much without the necessary foundation.

But Europe would never have been poor or poorer than other continents. Colonialism was only an accelerator, but not the cause of the Industrial Revolution.
The way Europe developed was predestined.

It is highly likely that as navigation improved, someone would have discovered the new world anyways. In fact vikings already did so before the age of colonisation. Hell, their was even an attempted crossing of the Atlantic made by Mali in the 14th century.

The world would be better, if the Africans and natives Americans evolved their societies into empires and kept their path of discoveries.
The Africans created math, medicine, architecture earlier than europe, but developed it slowly, and never developed enough in weaponary, that is why they lost. But without Europeans, the Africans would be evolved their empires and had new medicine and a tottally different type of Industrial Revolution. Even in now days some Africans find a way to make uses with clean energy, but nobody cares about it, cuz is not profitable.

The native Americans have discovered recycling methods before europe, some of these methods were rediscovered on 20th century, also natives had their own languages, writing and medicine. Could also be great empires, if u look to the Incas, u will find that they expanded very fast, and were colonizing the Andes before Spain, the Spanish empire expanded fast by annexing the Inca, that was defeated due the lack of iron to make enough weapons, as native America had only bronze and not iron.

People in this comment section argue that without colonization Europe would still be the most advanced place which I mean if could be but is by no means guaranteed.
