Here In parts of south-eastern Nigeria notably in Rivers state back then twins were killed simply because they were twins because they were some sort of abomination apparently until Mary Slessor and the missionaries fought to end killing of twins. I have a friend who's from Rivers State who has a twin brother. So I'm pretty sure he's grateful for that.

I disagree with Matt on this. The first colonized tribe in the Americas were my native ancestors in the Caribbean and they were very peaceful people. Now all the wisdom and most of the culture from them is lost. It’s a great loss for our people. The men were killed and women were r*ped, considered infra-human. Now we know that “progress” is not the best for human beings but going back to basics with a set of ethics is.

I think Matt is missing the point here. Colonialism is, by definition, the idea that people in one land should be controlled by people in another. Yes its great the Spanish ended human sacrifice, but should Mexico still be under Spanish control?

I don’t even know how to come at something like this. I mean, you can state the obvious reasons why colonialism was awful and tyrannical and purely self serving for the colonizers and their descendants at the expense of the native peoples who were either enslaved, killed by disease, or forced into an infrastructure that discriminates against them to this day. But look at this comments section, look at Matt! People genuinely buy into this rhetoric. I’m amazed😂 I mean, I knew that, as a conservative, people would associate me with some of the more “backward” members of society, but with all due respect, I never knew that the lack of education would be this dire. I apologize to all who have the unfortunate fate to watch this video.
Edit: Also, that stuff at the end about “appeasing the sun God” and his other versions of “native practices”… I’m a conservative, but I was actually slightly sick in my stomach at hearing those words, some of the most blatant, most unapologetically rac!st words I have heard in a while.
