How to Know Someone is Hiding Depression

Depression is known as a silent killer because it causes so much pain to the individual but it’s invisible to people on the outside, especially if the individual hides it well. And as a society, we still have a certain view about how depression looks or should be, so it’s not that hard for the people who suffer from it to hide it so well. To end the stigma, here are a few ways people hide their anxiety.

Favor needed!! As you know, raising awareness on mental health is not easy when you have so many channels out there competing for our attention. To help us get seen by YouTube algorithm, could you share this video with your friends or someone who needs it? It would truly mean a lot! In return, we will give you a free e-copy of our magazines. We will post the link to it sometimes in April! :)

Food For Thought: Depression is like being colorblind and constantly told how colorful the world is.

I have depression too, I'm struggling with other mental issues and I always feel like I'm not good enough. I always smile around everyone and pretend all the time like I'm okay. Thanks for covering topics like this Psych2go

I am horrified at myself sometimes when I write my stories

When I reread them, I realised how much I pour my depression into the words and how descriptive was my writing

It’s one of my coping mechanisms and helps me to improve as an author

We all deserve an Oscar for still standing even while we’re struggling c:

it’s always the guilt that’s hidden most because people don’t understand what we’re actually guilty about.

I think of the Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington because his songs were about depression and suicide and he saved many people because of his lyrics. He was my hero in my teen years going through depression with no friends at one point during high school and had thoughts of suicide until I was listening to Crawling one day in my bedroom and it saved me from doing that. I was able to have friendships through his music. He was the voice of mental health through his music until the end of his life. It hits differently now. I've listened to In The End, Numb, Somewhere I Belong, Crawling, Breaking The Habit, From The Inside, Faint, Leave Out All The Rest, Shadow Of The Day, One More Light and many others thousands of times. They will always have a special place In my heart. Rest in peace Chester Bennington. Their albums Hybrid Theory and Meteora were on repeat in my life. You're not alone through this! You can fight this! Never fight it alone! But in the end, it does even matter. Your life matters all the way through. Always keep striving and pushing! You are worth more as God's child.

Edit: one day I heard Numb on the radio and I remember this was the song I needed in my life over 3 years ago and I was stoked to hear it because it's one of my favorite songs of all time. It relates to how teenagers have to act a certain way towards their parents to be more like what they want them to be and be less like themselves.

With depression at an all time high and so many triggers I’ve definitely been on high alert with my loved ones. I never want to be the person saying I wish I saw the signs. This is super informative and I’ll definitely be looking out for them 🙏🏽

I am going through withdrawals right now and my depression has hit me full on. I’ve started to isolate and make excuses to not eat. For some reason, this video is motivating me to go out and try a small meal. So, thank you for making me feel seen.

I haven't had an official diagnosis, but I whole-heartedly believe that I have depression. I often beat myself up, (just mentally, not physically) and compare myself to others negatively.
