I got an adapter for my 18v Dewalt so I can use my 20v batteries on it.Works great and the 20v batteries last longer. Thanks Steve, you're really ingenious on figuring stuff out. I appreciate that!

It would be nice if tool batteries could have standard connections like a 9v battery

I have mostly Dewalt tools/batteries and have purchased Makita tools that were more cost effective or nonexistent in the Dewalt world. Instead of investing in another battery platform I bought a Dewalt to Makita adapter and it functions great.
The only thing to be aware of is where your battery/tool manufacturer regulates the discharge cut off voltage.

Apparently Dewalt regulates this in the tool as opposed to Makita which is in the battery. So if the adapter or the host tool does not adequately regulate your Dewalt battery’s discharge voltage you may either shorten it’s life or end it right there. Conversely a Makita battery should self regulate in an adapter.
So to be safe I switch or recharge the Dewalt battery used in the adaptor well before it fully discharges. I also apply this to any non-Dewalt accessories that attach to my batteries.

Although my Makita adapter (and other accessories) stated it has voltage regulation, I personally do not trust the voltage cutoff in a 30 buck no name adapter to adequately protect my $200 plus batteries. Keep up the great vids. Cheers!

Yep. I have mostly Ridgid & lots of Ridgid batteries but I have all sorts of tools from Milwauke, Makita & even a Ryobi puke green soldering iron (which is great) all used with the cheap but brilliant Ridgid batteries via an adaptor like this.

I bought a Milwaukee that lasted 10 or 15 years. By the time the batteries wore out the replacements were no longer available. The drill still works very well, so I bought a transformer and run it like a corded drill.

Good afternoon Steve, I have recently found that a chap here makes them and now I use my Dewalt batteries with my Makita gear and so on, brilliant

All my shop and yard tools are now DEWALT. Most are 20 volt max but a couple are 60 volt. I have 2 Flexvolt 20/60 batteries for those and about 5 20 volt ranging from 2 AH to 6 AH. Smaller ones nice for hand held drills and drivers. I’m getting old and I really wanted an electric sprayer for herbicides etc. DEWALT doesn’t make one but Harbor Freight does. So I found someone on eBay who prints an adapter. It just stays in the sprayer and I use DW batteries. Great solution.

Those adapters are a brilliant idea. I really enjoy my M18 tools as well. As good as my old SnapOn tools, but a fraction of the cost. Nicely done video from you both.

I did this with my makita radio/drill/impact all while using my newer and better milwaukee batteries. The adapters i purchased have a usb so you can take a battery with you too power anything from a cellphone, bluetooth speaker, or you can even buy a power inverter and charge larger items like a small fan or backup power for a laptop, tv. Be cautious though as these adapters have a parasitic power draw when not in use so always disconnect them when not in use.

Looove it and it’s a nice way to save, so you don’t have to pay for those ridiculously priced batteries and use what you’ve got. Well done Steve!

great find.
I was able to put a porter cable battery on my Black & Decker by grinding off a small blocking tab. YES they play those tricks a sharp eye.
Stay safe.

I love it! I have heard the Milwaukee impacts are excellent. *But be aware that some battery adapters drain the battery even when you're not using them.* Even with the genuine DeWalt-branded adapters. I destroyed a 5mAh battery with a USB charging adapter and severely ran down a battery with a 2mAh 20v to 18v adapter. These special adapters need to be removed from the battery when you're done using the device.
