North American Union (CANUSMEX) - Vision of a new superpower

preview_player
Показать описание
A hypothetical North American Union comprising the United States, Mexico, and Canada would be a political and economic union aimed at promoting cooperation and integration between the three countries. It could potentially lead to the elimination of trade barriers, increased labor mobility, and joint efforts to address common challenges such as immigration and security.

What would happen and whether it is possible for these three North American countries to ever unite with each other into one big superstate or North American union? Despite appearances, this is not a vision that is as unrealistic as it might seem. Some experts consider this scenario not only realistic, but almost certain. Since at least the mid-19th century, numerous concepts for a union between Canada, Mexico and the United States have been proposed, some of them involving countries in the Caribbean, Central America and even South America-such a movement was the North American Technate in the 1930s, which advocated a nationwide merger of all the countries you see now. This would give global domination of raw materials and technology- based on the rich oil deposits in the Gulf of Mexico and the Venezuelan region. On top of that, this creation would have almost the world's largest gas reserves located in the U.S. and Canada, but that's just a short list of what this union would have at its disposal.

As a tourist that likes going to the US it'd be nice to go to all 3 countries with only 1 tourist visa with no borders

If they merged, no nation could rival them.

Mexico is actually becoming a world economic super power and is predicted to become one in the next 5 years! So teaming up with the USA & Canada would make sense but unfortunately we love to hate on each other and can't see how much better we would have it if we would just forget about race! We need each other more than ever but yet we hate each other more than ever! Why can't we just love thy neighbor? Because we are controlling, jealous, and hateful towards one another! It's just too easy to love and unite that we want to make it difficult and suffer!

I strongly agree USA, Mexico & Canada should be backed together economically, Militarily and mainly for the benefit of the people. Imagine the the jobs and careers opportunities that creates. But these BRICKS & NATO situations are not looking good. Especially for our Dollar.

Canusmex is a name, but I think the N.A.U. (North American Union) is more of a fitting name

This is a great point. I was born in Mexico and raised in the United States. So a North American Union would mean me not an immigrant in the country anymore. I am in California. Mexico is finally becoming a rich country, to become a developed country in the near future. 2050 is just 26 years away from now. Let's have Spanish, English and French be the major languages spoken in the North American Union. The three countries of the United States, Canada and Mexico have the same plugs in use, have holidays on a Monday to observe on some of them at least, are NAFTA members and have been democracies. They're hosting the World Cup in two years, which is exciting! The countries that the United States borders are with interesting features on them: the one with Canada the longest border in the world, and the one with Mexico the most crossed in the world. Last year remittances sent from the United States to Mexico were like never before, which is good and to end poverty in the world even. I enjoy this idea of a North American Union. Canada and the United States are similar, and Mexico also copies things from the United States. Let's make a North American Union a reality in the near future!

I am all for a United Federation of North America, however (and I say this as an American, mind), the United States, Mexico, and Canada must share power EQUALLY for it to work best. No one country "takes the lead" over the others; no "Junior Partners" and other such rot. We stand TOGETHER as the single most dominant Superpower the world has ever seen, and give even an alliance between Russia and China reason to think twice before attempting to undermine our, and I stress OUR, supremacy.

As an American I think the us and Mexico should do this without Canada. There’s a complication with them still being beholden to the British Royal family and i don’t see that as a possibility outside of individual provinces leaving and joining the U.S. like college sports teams. But say it does happen it would be cool to have Canada’s social safety net and healthcare combined with the U.S. finances and rule of law combined with Mexico’s industriousness and culture. The right wing here can have their border wall in the south of Mexico at a fraction of the cost. Create an asylum city state down there that’s dedicated to processing refugees and immigrants. Decouple the enforcement part of immigration and combine the border patrol and coast gaurd. Take Sedgwick County in Kansas and make it the new Capitol district. It’s got a decent sized city in Wichita. An airport that can easily be expanded and an Air Force base. It’s on the I 35 corridor which is basically the dividing point between eastern and western USA. The distance from Mexico City and Ottawa are both roughly 1450 miles from Wichita. I think you combine Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands into a state. Make Guam and Samoa their own states. Return DC to Maryland.

I've always thought this made sense and with China and Russia aligning, WWIII nearing, I see this as a way America could stay alive.

I could see us uniting with Canada given enough dialog and work. However, uniting with Mexico would be more difficult since they aren't part of the anglosphere. Most likely if we were to unite it would likely take a good bit of cultural intermixing between the USA and Mexico to make it work. Kind of similar to the border regions where both cultures mix and form.
